It doesn't help (maybe it does) but there really aren't any fundamental features in the 2000xl sampler you can control with a midi controller (see the midi implementaion chart in the back of your 2000xl manual)
the MPC series have all the knobs, pads and buttons you need to control the internal sequencer / sampler - you could get a foot switch to control the start, stop and record functions
But if you prefer to play keys instead of pads - cool...and you never know when you may want to use it on something like Reason -
But in my opinion a midi a controller is overkill with the MPC series - you don't need one
Spend that money on a trip to LA and go see Carl Cox @ Circus July 10th - I'll be there and we can go to Guitar Center the next day, maybe lunch
