Hi all I use my mpc1k as a midi trigger in order to control a load of solenoids hitting milk bottles, mounted on the sides of a milk float. I realise this probably makes no sense but if you go to http://www.backtothetrees.org/tonefloat/ all should become clear.
The mpc plays the bottles live and also a few other things: car horns, lights etc. Its a good laugh and the extra midi in means kids can have a go themselves, using a keyboard mounted on the back of the vehicle.
Running it off 12v batteries and an inverter. Never crashed. JJ3.08

that is loco and i like it! I mean, what are you smoking man? That is the craziest idea i've seen for quite a while.

thanks man, I had to quit when I started hearing the voices
We're currently working on a bottle organ, with compressed air blowing over the tops of the bottles. Note repeat on a car horn can be fun, one gig had a blue flame coming off the horn's electrical contacts.

Hi guys,
Like this thread. I've been playing the MPC in a live format with a korg ms2000b and a moog little phatty. I use the MP as a sequencer and record a lot of midi tracks onto it. Then I build up some beats and sync another analogue drum machine for those electro squeeks and pips.

I mainly use the track mute screen but I need to sort out the midi dump thing. Anyone got any suggestions? I need to send each synth all the parameter info and should be able to do this from the MPC right?

I have two mixers for this, and use a kaoss pad 3 for some nice dub delays which I send the synths too. I also use the seperate outs so I can eq the bass drum and give it a boost half way through a track. Nice.

hey whats up chris, are you doing that sequencing live or are you preparing your tracks first and then muting, btw which os version # are you using?

Hi Monk,

I am using 2.10. I use track mute for the midi tracks, but its good for building live loops or just jamming. I am thinking of up grading to the new unofficial os as it looks like its got a better live function on the track mute page. Anyone confirm this?

Im with Bruxism on this one, If your good on the pads as far as drums go, your set. I play drums on bottom 8 pads, and then assign stabs, basslines, vocal samples, and whatever else to the other 8. i have a friend who will juggle loops on the old dr. sampler, and then punch me in on the exit source to add live FX to my drums. Would love to incorporate a nice synth keyboard like the micron or something to bring it all together.

I know im not jel, but I think over time you could do everyting on the mpc. Ive seen jel live, and the word bored, never crossed my mind. Some uneducated kids just thought he was pressing play, and pushing buttons, but those that know of him, realize that he is the first and the finest of live MPC work. He just knows how to blend tracks seamlessly and hes always switching up the melody, and tempo of his beats. A lot of guys out of anticon will just use one mpc and have other members playin another sampler or microkorg. Simple yes, but the product they put out is anything but that.

yo droan, good to hear you're down with the ninja style man.

How about you and me do a little program swap to get some new ideas? let me know if you're keen and i'll zip up a couple and send them your way.

I'm always keen to share and learn some new stuff.

Confirmed

Track mute:immediate and the different options for switching seqs are great.

Anyone who is serious about his 1k should get the JJ OS.

enough with the bumps...if you're gonna push this thread along...you got to offer something to the people.

whether people are interested i don't know, but i thought you(mpc-monk) might be so I'm gonna give you guys my favourite project folder at the moment.

Included is one program, and 3 sequences. These sequences can all be played live in one take......if you got the skills.

Enjoy

only performed once live on mpc, and what I learned (apart from I need better monitors so I know what the hell people are hearing) is to have more options within each Project. Because that means more time freaking each Project and less time switching between Projects. And switching means dead air that has to be filled

how were you monitoring on that performance where you couldn't hear well?
