Its easy to take it apart. Just pull all the knobs off and unscrew the screws underneath.
The main thing is to remove these 4 nuts under the Rotary Knobs and Wala!
Same Pads as the 2000. The MPD32 Gotta have the same pad setup.
Unkow how Wakai DOO. The recycle KINGS!

so are you just switching out the rubber pads here?
not the sensor sheet?
think that would work with an mpd16?

What's good master!
Thanks for the props! The pics you posted were taken by me quite a while ago!
After I found out how to open up that mpd24 I went and ordered some grey replacement pads from mpcstuff.com . I was so disappointed when they arrived because they were exactly the same ones. :x I thought I would get pads that are a little thicker and softer!!!
Where did you order your black pads from?It would be cool if you could post a pic of your mpd unit with the new set of pads.

Peace!

I'd like to see this too. Been checking the MPD out since the announcement was made.

I did the same thing...the mpcstuff.com pads feel little pushier, though they don't pop out the MPD24 like they do the 2500...maybe it's the MPD's faceplate being thicker? If those black pads are thicker and pushier, I'd like to see a pic to confirm too before I re-order. Peace

Does it have 16 tuning? Or only 16 level?

By J.Daniels Mon Mar 17, 2008 12:37 am
nah it depends on the software for tuning.

By Tohtruck Mon Mar 17, 2008 12:37 am
^^^ I would imagine only 16 levels of velocity as you would have to chromatically pitch samples in the software since its the computer holding the samples and the software that is triggering them as a sound module.

Otherwise, I only see the 16 levels on an MPD being able to send out the midi note numbers on a chromatic scale.

Looks like Akai focused more on this then the 5000...

FUK U AKAI... FUK. U.

I don't think Akai really focuses on anything anymore.

I hope I'm wrong tho. If the 32 really does what it is advertised with no bugs or dumbass issues I will seriously consider getting one.

In other words I most likely won't be getting one.

i came into the mpc scene in 2004, so i'm FAIRLY new to this whole thing
but DAMN i have never seen so much criticism of this company as i have seen in the last couple months
folks are really, really fed up
now, if only there was a way to get this feedback out and about

i want a novation sl for my midi controller. that automap function looks amazing. the zero sl looks like a wkd ableton controller (i already hav an oxygen 8, so dunno if i need keys, tho the keys r meant to b good and i like the idea of the x/y axis). would love to an mpd 32 as well, but might wait for it to drop in price. the mpd 24 is sooo cheap now.
