Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Yo akai...
nuff good improvements to check in this thread... Here's mine,

Recursive modulation. the ability to set the attack envelope to itself so that the slope can be made a curve (convex or concave). This would help a lot in tightening drums. Also, when enveloping drums, the attack is like
0 clicks(on the dial)=no change, 1 click=a little less attack, 2 click= a little less and then... around the 3-5 click, the drums dissappear to way back. I would like this more accurate if possible so I dont have to buy a transient designer aswell if I cant find perfect samples. Maybe the envelopes could have 2 modes... Drums + other parts mode, the drum mode being s*** tight+recursive modulation.
and, its been mentiioned allready but the ability to have tracks looping at different measures.
Peace.

Hey guys, don know if I been smokin 2 much weed or not but heres my idea. I know nothing about how the inside of the mpc works and no idea how hard the OS is to write so my idea probably wont work.....

essesntially you can use the rec ins(phono or xlr) to bring external sources into the mix whilst on any page, giving access to the effects and maybe saving u from needing a big phatt external mixer live....

dunno im just thinking, and now im writing its not really that important, but if it was easy it could be cool

Maybe you guys could implement a step sequencer like the ones from the MC303? With pads instead of little knobs. 16 pads represents 16 steps in 1 bar..

Re: OS updates
As I said in my replay to Reveal's post, both Audiotion Samples from HD and FX Levels correction will be in the next OS.
We currently have both features already implemented and we are doing some internal testing before we supply this version to external beta testers, which should be soon.

Akai should write us a program for XP and MAC OS wich let us make programs easy! With drag-and-drop method. Maybe they can update Aksys so we can fire up Aksys and make programs for MPC, S5000, Z4 etc.. without having to start up those samplers. And then afterwards just drag the whole program into the MPC! :D If you want to do this now, it takes to long to make an entire bank..

Thanks for bringing this back Reveal

and YIPPIE on the news, that audition will make me and extremely happy man, hopefully you will be able to audition while your sequence is playing, I already know that you can load or save while its playing its not that big of a deal though maybe that will be the next request and Akai has been pretty impressive as of late

1. They need to fix the decay feature in program mode.

2. Better translation from previous mpc's ( read .par files from 3000, make the decay from the efx section translate to the efx section of the 4000, sequences made with the 16 level tuning function in previous mpc's dont scale in the 4000 )

Is there a work-a-round for this?

The drag and drop method is already in the latest akasys update. Go to pad edit, and drag the samples to the corresponding pads..

Now what i absolutely want to see in the next os is a CUT function,,, i still cant believe that with that big high res graphical display, i cant cut midinotes graphicaly. Its slowing down my work way to much.

What would be a great idea is when you got to some point from where you want the midinote to be cutted,, just pressing delete would cut the note,,, how hard can that be to implement??

Its very easy to make a keygroup and assign a sample to the keygroup.
Its not realy a workaround but its a solution

Maybe you can go and talk to Sean on DPS forums. The update is not finished yet, if you re not too late, he may could implement it in the (final) update.
