Does it stay on the same screen or does the screen go blank? Under other menus does that button work or does nothing happen? If the button works, try reflashing your rom (reload your os). Otherwise, its time to take your MP apart and clean the the contact, worst case scenario, replace the button.

yea b the button works, it goes to the page but the page is blank. I can still use the data wheel to scroll to diff options but it still leaves the page blank. I dont kno how to reload the OS becuz i didnt install it I bought it with version 1.2 installed.

so you have the card reader model? Download 1.2os from the internet, save it to a cf card load it into the MPC. A note will come up saying "are you sure you want to flash the rom, everything stored in memory will be lost?" select do it.
(Substitute cf card w/ floppy disk if youve got a floppy drive.)

you can pay to ship your MPC to vst, then pay them $65 to load the os for you. You could just buy a card reader for like $35 or you can find someone who has one and get them to load the cf card for you.

When in step edit what are you doing??? Data will only show at the actual time of it happening. Try scrolling through the time to where you know you have a note, or use the step keys.

I guess sometimes common sense isnt so common.....

And also make sure you are on the track that you want to edit. If you want to edit a kick in step edit you have to selct the track you recorded the kick on, or
else no notes will show up. or maybe if you are on the track you recorded the hi-hat only the hi- hat notes will show.

But anyway if I hit a pad while in step edit, somethin will show up but then if I exit the window and go back its not there anymore
