MPC 1000 or.....

I've had my mpc for a bit now, and Ive had one before. I love what I do with it and all but I also Have reason 4 and Pro tools 7.4. Had them for a while to. After all is said and done with the mpc, I have to revert to the computer. should i return the 1000 and get an mpd 24 or the mpk49 or another controller and maybe recylce to work with sampling and overall creation? workflow seems a little faster on the computer. I don't want to leave the hardware, but if I get a controller I still got the fun aspect of banging out and feeling the music. I am a believer in it isnt what you have, but what you can do with it. i am just a little lost. Please give opinions. Thanks

Why not use mpc as a midi controller? Sure, you won't have these knobs and sliders from mpd24 for example, but before you make a change, do a calculation od costs (selling mpc - buying mpd) vs. what you can gain in features.
Bare in mind that without selling you can always go back to using your mpc as sampler, when you get bored with software. We all know (I think) that after longer period of time it's good not to look at the pc screen and still be able to make beats. That's why I'm sticking to my mpc 2kxl, even though I was thinking about getting an mpd24.

how do I set up MPC as a controller? I thought you couldnt do that. My original idea was to get a mpc 500 or roland sp 404, more leaning towards the mpc for sequencing features.. I can still get almost a full refund back for my mpc. so with the money i would prob. buy recycle ($200) and a keyboard controller with extras. or i could buy recycle with the mpc 500. i really liked the 500 cause of portability. don't get me wrong, I love the MPC, it's just do I really need it or would my workflow be better off with other things to compliment my software as some items mentioned above. I dunno.

Every MPC is capable of being used as a controller. Why?...because of it having the "midi out" feature just like any other controller device. I think (and this is just my opinion) it would only be a matter of time before you revert to feeling this way as well once you get use to using recycle for some time. I don't know to what extent your musical knowledge goes, but this seems to be a handicap with folks that rely upon ready made samples to fulfill their ideas and such. Like harlej stated, you can always go to using the sampler feature on your 1k to spark more interest within yourself, and learn to use that to your benefit in conjunction with what you already have.
