Favorite Software Sequencer

What's your favorite Software Sequencer(s) (i.e. Reason, Logic, etc...) ?

and do you sequence everything on the MPC then import (multitrack) into your favorite sequncer or do you just write parts on the MPC and combine with other things you got going on or do you do both?

Favorite Software Sequencer(s)

Logic - because it's cool and what other software sequencer comes with an arppregiator built in and the Environment is really cool - you can make anything do anything

Reason - because it's so easy to use and some of the effects are just second to none i.e. scream 4 and the RV7000 reverb unit WOW!

Cubase (SL). I tried a demo of sonar but it crashed my computer in a really nasty way, and logic is no longer developed on PC, so Cubase it had to be.

Reason isn't that good for sequencing IMO, since you can't sequence audio (ok, you can load audio in the various samplers available, but not sequence it normally). Still use it every now and then though.

But for doing quick and dirty tunes on a lunchbreak, you can't beat buzz (http://www.buzzmachines.com).

Logic....Im a hardco PC user so I have to go with 5.5 for life...hehe



that is until I get $15,000-$20,000 to spend on my G5 Protools HD Rig, hehe.

I understand Apple bought Emagic but Apple makes products for the PC (Ipods are retarded in my opinion - I actually think they're cool but all the stupid Indie Rockers up here on Capitol Hill in Seattle (you know, the trendy neighborhood where everyone's in a band, gay and drinks espresso) have one and they're stupid...but that's totally another thread)

anywho - what was Apple thinking. Were they trying to take themselves out of competition with Cubase or trying to corner Apples market as being the only computer you can run a program like Logic on - thank god I sold out to those stupid commercials and bought a Mac

I think it is a power move by apple in part to try and corner the professional and demo studio market again. They designed logic 6 specifically for the G5 system. no audio program before except maybe protools has been designed for a particular PC system to optimize its performance. Also I think a lot of the time people can get their hands on pirated software much easier for the pc so it would kill 2 birds with one stone in a sense...

I just recently made the move to software sequencing and Pro Tools is working great for me, it's not as deep as Logic but I don't really need that much depth for sequencing, PT allows me to do everything I need to do and keeps it simple. I've also tried sequencing with Sonar but I like the PT interface better. I agree about the Reason sequencer, it's kinda quirky to me but sequencing Reason through Rewire in PT is a breeze. I still do all my drum programing and sequencing on the MPC though, nothing is better for sequencing drums!

yeah - throwing your MPC drums on top of anything sounds HELLA tight

i use cubase sl. the sequencer on reason is a toy.

is the sequencer built into the MPC. Rock solid, great integration with the MPC hardware and funky as you EVER want to be!

used to be a Logic user (since 3.5) but since they decided to stop supporting Windows PCs, I moved on. Still use 5.5 once in blue though.
