Load from a USB jump drive

I'm probably way behind on this, but can you use a jump drive to store and load MPC samples and data? Some are quite large and the convenience of just having it always in the MPC would be great. What?

Word, word. But USB is so universal, at least for now. Pop in your USB jump and copy files/samples/loops from your friends computer to your MPC and visa versa. Take your files/samples/loops on the road and load em up anywhere, pretty much in the world. Just a thought though. Seems like an easy fix too.

Not really. You would need a USB host controller in the MPC for that, which is like a chip allowing connection of other external memory devices. The 2500 doesn't have that, and there's no way of changing that. The 2500 is just like a big ass jump drive itself if you will. The 4000 for example has a host port like that.

The "pop in and copy" you wanna do can be easily done with a CF card though. Just get a cheap card reader for your PC. There are even portable ones that fit in your pocket and can be plugged to any PC's USB port.

There is no USB port on the 2500. Just the CF slot. So buy some CF Cards, and a little portable usb port for computers. Then you can still steal your friends samples and load them conveniently into your mpc
