So I got an MPC1000 with the free jj os 3.08 but am wondering about the differences between all the other JJ os's and that kinda thing. I have searched this site and saw the list of features however still am unsure about the difference in terms of performance and stuff.

Can someone explain some things to me and fill me in? thanks

also, if i want to get the Ebook, could I still use the MPC1000 book even without the Akai system?

thanks a lot.

If you are quite new in the MPC world I would suggest the e-book "Beat Making on the MPC1000" with the official AKAI OS first. You have all the screen layout available and everything you need to understand is explained step by step.

As soon as you are more familiar with the main MPC's concepts (Chop, Midi, etc...), you can switch directly on JJ OS.

I have to disagree, learning the Akai os is a real waste of time IMHO. I would reccomend getting into the JJ os and learning once. Most of your basic MPC info is still the same and your manual can walk you through alot.
