Non record users

Anybody here not use records at all?

I have two broken numarks and im to lazy to get them fixed.

So i use all Cassettes....theyre really easy to cop off people cuz noone wants em.
"Hey man, you got any old audio cassettes?"
"Yeah tons. You want em?"


I also take stuff off youtube, if its a good quality video. Line straight from the internet to my interface.

I used to sample of tapes sometime.what mpc or sampler do you use.
I have been wanting to take some sounds of DVDs.

I use to strictly sample cassettes but Im mainly a vinyl guy now. I like the sound of vinyl only slghtly better than cassette. As for recording off of a dvd/vcr, its all good. Most of the vocal quotes I use are ripped off of some kind of video device. Basically the way I see it, any sound source is fair game. Its all about the finished product.

I rip Cd's as wav into my PC, Upload it with Adobe Audition 1.5, Cut the samples up, and Cut & Paste the folder of my cut samples into the MPC! The only way I use Youtube is if I'm taking an excerpt. Like Geroge Bush saying something stupid, or a Malcolm X Speech, or sum crazy conspiricy non-sense like "MK ULTRA"! As far as "stereo out mix" recording actual songs.... Naaaaaah! Most of the times they sound like crap!

i love tapes thats all i use to record on i got a 4trck and a 8track,but i use my kenwood tape deck to sample phrases into my mpc and chop and filter,

i love those self etseem ones they have great sounds .

check out CAT5 there my budys DOC uses tapes all the time and listen to the samples it sounds super doope

Yeah, cassettes are killer. They are way cheap, but it's harder to find good stuff on cassette than it is on vinyl IMO. I see a lot of Michael Bolton and Garth Brooks cassettes
EDE, are your 4 and 8 track machines reel or cassete? I was trying to get into software recording, but I've found myself going back to my Tascam cassette 4-track recently and I've been having a lot more fun.

i got a reel to reel 4 trk, and 1 4trk , 1 8trk tape... i dont use the 8trk cause i need the power cord for it , so right now i dont really know if it works, so i use the 4 trk tape and my VS 880 8trk digital HD recorder, there's just to much to have to learn on digital, thats why i still to what i know which is the 4trk thats what i started of with , i dig the reel 2 reel too, but it's hard to record on that one cause it needs some work done on it , i neede to have the heads replaced on it ,there's to much static.


i like tapes yeah there are some that are hard to get but i have found some really good deals where i get a box of like 50- 60 tapes for 20 bucks

I don't find anything wrong with it. I sample CDs too.
Each medium just sounds different. I feel like CDs have less mids and more highs than vinyl and cassettes, so they can sound kinda thin sometimes. Cassettes have less lows and highs than either.
Anyone ever sample an 8-track tape?

exactly you get more"Womp Woooomp Woooooooooomp!" when sampling from tape i didn't say there was anything wrong i just don't prefer such a thin sound!

Ive sampled CD's but it's not something I LIKE TO USE....THATS JUST MY PERSONAL PREFFERENCE and the fact that i dont have a CD player i got a burner but i dont use that much either

I use old movies. Random cheezy scifi sh*t

I dunno, i just prefer working with tapes a supposed to cds. I like the whole continuity factor of a tape. It's very primitave and raw.

I've found that it's harder to find good stuff on tape, but tape is really easy to get, so things are bound to come up.

Things like that 50-60 tapes for 20.
