MPC Editor Question

Hey everyone,

So I downloaded the free trial of MPC Editor but when I try to format a zip disk the disk formatter does not see my Zip drive. Any ideas?

Cause you ain't using a MPC formatted zip disk. I had the same problem when I first started using it.

actually I was. It was a disk I had been working on (3000 format)

If the MPC-EDITOR can't "see" your ZIP drive to initialize the format process then this could indicate:

1: You're not running a Windows XP OS on your computer.
2: Your Windows OS is not setup properly.

Yea that's what it was. When I was at work I tried to use Windows 2000 for it and it didn't recognize the drive and then I read that it doesn't work on it.

Hmmm, Windows XP, check, MPC3000 formatted disk, check. Even tried with a FAT formatted disk. Nothing. The editor program says that it does not see system drives so that it does not accidentally format a system drive, but for some reason it is showing my system drives in the little drop down window.

Windows XP "WMI" and "SCRIPTING HOST" configuration error.

1: Bad Windows XP install, ( over tweaked or badly installed )

2: Mis configured Windows install. ( WMI/SCRIPTING HOST configuration problem / missing components )

3: MPC-EDITOR running under a user with restricted system component access privileges.

4: MPC-EDITOR not configured to be able to access all system components that require administrative level clearance in order to RUN.

5: Corrupted Windows Storage Class entries. ( pretty common )

6: Windows XP Removable Storage Manager Snap-In not enabled in the services control management pages.

Typical Windows XP stuff.

Contacted the MPC-EDITOR programmer at MIDICASE ?

Well i had a similar problem...i dont know if its the same.

But

1) Format the Zip disk thru Windows XP first. Via have to use your Zip drive to do it. You can try doing it from the My Computer/Right Mouse Click/Format. I think you can go to the HELP section of Window on how to format a zip disk.

2) Next Format it AGAIN via MPC Editor.

Give it a try.

OH I forgot...before you do all the above...!!!

Does your computer read your Zip Driver? And if so, does it read the zip disk inside?

If the first question Yes, and the latter is NO.

You may have to change the LETTER of the Zip Drive FIRST! (i.e. instead of f: change it to z: )

I forgot how, but you can find the answer easily on the HELP of Windows quickly.

Try a different usb. On my system MPC editor doesn't see my drive when i go thru a hub or any of the rear ports. But when i plug it into any of the front ports it works fine.
