s950 question...

hey guys, i am a lucky ass...

bought a mint s950 w/ full expanded memory from ebay for 76,- euro.
includes about 100 floppy dd disks

AND !!!!!

i am so happy about this cause the scsi board was not part of the auction...

everything works perfect.
i want to hook up a scsi zip drive but the cables from my iomega 100mb scsi zip drives are wrong?

so my questions:
- will the iomega scsi drives work with the s950?
- is the scsi board the same as the board from the mpc60? so i could put it from the s950 to the 60?
- is it possible to replace the floppy disk with an internal zip drive (iomega 100mb)

where can i get infos for the s950 sampler?

the ib-109 SCSI board WILL NOT fit in the MPC60... nice find on the ib-109 by the way... as far as i know any SCSI storage device should work...

Iomega zip 100 drives work with the IB-109, but mine has a little quirk where I have to access the zip let the 950 crash and then cycle power and then access the zip again with no problems until I cycle power the again. I think it is a SCSI timing issue with the zip drive I am using but it works consistently. You will need a Centronic SCSI to 25 pin SCSI cable. Ebay has them if you need to get one.

i noticed that i have the dma (atari harddisk) board called "ib-105" with 19pins...

i searched on the forum and found:

seems that i have to get a dma/scsi converter or a atari harddisk...

for me it would be bether when i go for a adapter with zip disks.

has anyone experience about the ib105 board with zips?

since its the ib-105, i dont think zips are possible via some sort of an adaptor... it would be nice if i was wrong though... as far as i know, you must locate one of the 2 or so atari HD models... sh-20 is one of the model numbers, there are also some SUPRA models, or A Supra model that may work... if noone comes along with the exact model compatibility info for the ib-105 atari hd interface, im sure that a search of the forums would reveal the needed information, this topic has been discussed here a few times before, i just dont have the memory to remember everything offhand....

i found a manual from the ib-105 board:

atari sh204 or sh205 (both 20mb)
or supra disks should work...

i read somewhere in the forum that the atari megadisks also works...
could get a megadisk60 for a few euros...
will try it....

nice little harddisks for a few megabytes...
thank god that the disks are only up to 60mb... i dont have enough space for
a few gigabytes

no man, i d like to work in nz, but for non english speaking countries there are so many laws, inquiries etc....

its easier to work for at least one year in uk and then go the nz without any problems

I have one of these S950 with IB-105 cards too. I went on the hunt and found a Atari 60 MB HD for it. But for some reason I couldn't get it to save any data. I gave up on it after a few attempts. Besides, it is a loud drive and the sound gets annoying real fast.

Please let me know if you do get it to work. Maybe I am missing something like setting a jumper or something like that.

I have one SCSI-DMA adapter cable
and some SYQUEST SCSI drives and additional disks for sale!
I bought these units and disks for storing my samples and programs,
but I came to use only a few of the disks.
I think that all items are in good working condition.

The drives are SYQUEST 5,25" SCSI removable disk drives
with 88 MB and 44 MB disks.

Since the S 950 can handle only 60 MB of disk space, these disks
are nearly perfect.
I think Zip drives would work too with the S 950, but I have never tried that.

no answer from the guy with the atari megadisk60....

i found in the manual only suggestions for the sh205,204 and supra drives...
maybe you are correct and the atari megafile dont work with the akai....

i will go for a sh205(4) drive, they are also much cheaper....
