not sure if this is the case, but if you're trying to receive midi data from a keyboard while in 16 LEVELS mode on the MPC, i usually can't get that to work with midi.

Nope, I don't use 16 levels often. Thats good to know though.

Ah that's interesting. For some reason I thought you already tried an alternate MIDI source. I suppose you could just keep running it through the computer as long as it's not a problem for what you're doing.

Personally, I don't trust MidiMan/MAudio gear, and I believe somebody reported a problem like this before with that stuff. One issue might be some kind of ground loop (a "classic" MAudio weakness) is occurring when you connect direct and this is screwing up the midi transmit. Only other thing I can think of is something to do with a slight wonkiness in the MAuido midi out transmission that the computer doesn't mind but the MPC is less forgiving of. The computer may be altering this back to "normal' when it retransmits back to the MPC.

See if you can find or borrow a non-MAudio midi controller to get a different result.

Do either of those MAudios take batteries? If they do, you could try that too instead of external power -- that would at least rule out the ground loop possibility.

I dont think its a ground loop issue since i used batteries for the oxygen 8.

is there any software that will emulate a midi in/out? routing through FL is decent, but a few things (pitch wheel/mod wheel) dont work.

Yeah there's plenty of stuff that can do that for you. Mac or PC? For Windows you could use something simple like Hubi's loopback device, or more complex like Midi Ox.
There are others as well.

I'm sure you can do it with a Mac but I can't think of any specific programs offhand: I think a lot of people just set up a ReWire patch to do this.

Hubi's Midi Loopback seems to be doing the trick. I'm routing the keyboard using USB to Midi Loopback and Sending it to my Edirol UME1X which is connected to my MPC. Quite a workaround, but good enough for me..

Cozy and elektrik_muz, thank you guys SO much for your continued input. Send me a PM if you'd like some drums or something. It's the least I could do!

(That goes for anyone who helped me out in this thread btw)

this may help not to sure though. I have the sort of the same problem. You said that you got it to work in Fl. Try going to propellerheads website and updating your software (3.0-3.1.2,etc.). I have read about midi bugs and other things of that nature in certain versions of reason. I unfortunately cannot do this because my friend let me "borrow" reason, so I can't use his serial number to update. I will prob end up buyin the new version 4 myself though. that program is a beast, esp with the mpc. good luck man.
