Mpc & MIDI

Ok so Ive finally receved Cubase SL yesterday and while trying to hook up my MPC and Cubse SL so I can use the synth in Reason Ive found that I can trigger the sounds in Reason easily from the pads on the MPC and record them using the sequencer on the MPC, but I cant use the controller (PCR-30) to trigger the sounds so they can be recorded on the MPC's sequencer, I can hear the sounds but the MPC is not recording them. Do i need to un-hook the PCR-30 from the usb socket and only use the MIDI connection??

There's a few ways you can do this... but do you want to use the Cubase sequencer or the MPC1000 sequencer?

I think you want to use a softsynth in Reason/Cubase with the MPC1000 sequencer, right?

Connect PCR-30 with a midi cable to your MPC1000 - midi in
MPC1000 midi out -> midi interface -> computer

I haven't played much with USB midi controllers... so I'm not sure.
you might try:
PCR-30 -> midi thru to MPC1000 -> Midi in

What settings should the MPC be in ( MIDI/SYNC page) in order to use the soft synth in reason so they can be recorded in the sequencer on the MPC beacuse my controller (PCR-30) has no MIDI Thru.

How are you connecting the MPC1000 to your computer?

Ok I got a Tascam US122 so the connection goes like Tascam MIDI out to MPC 1000 MIDI in that way I can use the MPC pads to trigger the sounds on Reason from there Im stuck because I would like to use the controller to record the synth onto the seq in the MPC instead of the pads.

try

PCR-30 midi out -> MPC 1000 midi in A
MPC1000 midi out A -> Tascam US122

In your MPC 1000
go to a track... any track...
change the MIDI channel to "1A" to use channel 1 in midi out A

In your computer...
the US122 should be sending midi info when you press a key on your PCR-30.
