What exactly is a sound card?

What does it do?

What separates the great sound cards from the lesser ones?

What do I look for when buying them as for as being compatible with an MPC 2000XL?

What brand do you use? Is it good?

What are some good online stores that sell good sound cards?

1 well with out it you cant hear a thing
2 converts sound to and from your pc
3the converters
4make sure the motherboard (from your pc) is compatible with the sound card

I run the RME multiface too acually and have been very pleased with it.

I have also tried the new Motu firewire interfaces and they are great also...

To take it back to basics, a soundcard is an interface your Computer needs to transmit and recieve audio & midi

They range from basic to VERY expensive (interms of specification/capabilities)...All depends on your demands/purpose for it.

Most PC users reqiure a soundcard for simple playback purposes but for the purpose of Studios/Production, things can get a little more complex.

I use an EMU 1212M you should look into one nice price excellent quality.

anyone know about lexicons omega interface,
I've been looking for an interface and multitrack software for a while and I'm on a budget
anyway just started to read about the omega looks pretty dope and comes with multitrack software called pro tracks and lexicon soft reverb pantheon,

anybody up on this unit?
