You might think is Stupid but...

I know it may sound stupid to most of ya'll...


but I really really like my zip disks: the size, the sound, and all the other obselete things about it. Losing them are harder than flash cards...
...I guess its the same reason why I still have my 2000xl, its size, its sturdiness, and classic "feel"...same goes for my zip disks...

<dont worry I still have my zip driver, and ordered my flash card reader>


1) The external zip driver/usb connection to PC/laptops are cheaper, as oppose to flash readers...(for those with old-ass computers that dont come with FC readers)

2) Its HALF the same reason why cats get Flash Cards too, to be able to transfer files to PC/laptops/etc back and forth (AND yes, flash cards are less nosier, faster, more effecient, and more space)...

3) I dont have to keep buying and buying more zip disks right?...a stupid question if question # 2 is Correct. (since I am able to read/rewrite zip from laptop-to-MPC-vice versa)


I know its a pain in the ass with the noise, the size, the cost, the "limited" space (thats the same shit we all said about floppy when zip drivers came out...i know ya'll know what im talking about).

But ill take the extra patience and bits of frustrations...just to have the "classic & realistic" feel...

I think it correlates with the same reasons that a few of us still USE/HAVE the 2000/2000xl or any other hardwares than virtual softwares.


I may be wrong...but zip disks will always stay classic...just as the sound quality of the MPC is, so is the sound that zip disks make when you scatter thru your pile of misplaced beats...haha..

I remember myself wondering a little if cats like Pete Rock or Kev Brown bothered to change their way of saving stuff to card readers. Quite honestly I think they didin't. I saw some vids on youtube with their machines + video like Beat Kings and they still have the old school way of saving. Of course Kev wasn't on this movie, but you know I mean.
Anyway, I know what you're talki bout man, though despite that fact I switched to readers some time ago in both my samplers to save me some hustle. However, drives and zip discs - some still brand new in casings, still have their place in my drawer : )

You know when you search for like 20 minutes.....
pop it in..... you here that click, press- Shift Load....and that humming sound...... Wow i think im going to cry.......





Zip discs will always be classic. the only bad thing....Searching for a good drive......

im glad there gone, i hate zip and flopys, they can go rot with yesterdays technology.

I aint much to worrying about other ppl's setup BUT...

...if you watch the "Classic" video of nas, rakim, krs-one, kanye west, and premiere....

...in the beginning, you can see Premiere searching thru his Floppys...i dont even think they were zip disks...

Nothing like the grinding sound getting louder with the machine gun clicking from when the zip drive just munched your disk and committed suicide.
