help me stop sampling

i just got a 3000 in teh mail today. its a little beat up but appears to be working fine. heres the problem tho. i tried sampling a loop just to get comfortable with it. got the sample recording, but it wont stop. i downloaded the manual and it seemed to say the 3000 would know when to stop sampling. but it doesnt. i tried raising the threshold of it but that doesnt seem to work. i even yanked out the 1/4 cables after the sample was done but that didnt help either. its runnin 3.11 for OS. someone tell me how big a idiot i am and help me solve this problem!

there should be sampling time up top, above threshold..
and u just plug in the seconds u want the sample duration to be..

that should do it..

if your looking for a hard drive to hold samples, i got 2 external scsi HD's im sellin for 20 bucks for both, there 500 mb each.
loads up samples way way fast.

The 3000 is niccccccccce.
I love mine.

But, Erkl is right.....you will definitley need a storge method.
An external SCSI Zip drive is cool.
If you add an external SCSI hard drive like Erkl suggested to that,
then you're really doing some damage.
Add a Zip to your computer and now you got it all set up.

my post made me sound like a newb but i aint that new to the game, just the 3000. i can get around on it pretty nice so far, just that sample length thing threw me for a loop. im used to the 2000xl sample functions and being able to stop it when i wanted with a button.

i actually am liking the fact that i cant see the waveforms and how everything is a lot more manual. makes it that much cooler. im sure i will have a couple more questions as i get deeper into this thing. so far so good.

I have waveform editing on the S6000 and I find it is more of a distraction and I end up listening and calculating distance with numbers more than using the waveform display. It does come in handy sometimes, but it isn't that much of a benefit as it is on a PC where you just click with a mouse at zero crossings and such.

yeah i dont really like the waveform editing on my s5000. the sh!t on the 2000xl is alright but i guess thats what i came up on and am used to. i like using the numerical editing though cuz it makes you use your ear more.

Thats crazy. I figured that at on a shitty little yamaha su-200 when I first started bout using math wit samples. Now i can loop really fast wit my mpc. I ebayed a s2000 and cant wait to use samples again instead of waveform editin.

The waveform display can be handy! I have it on the 4000 and its easy looping a constant waveform like this! In fact, I found it easier on the 4k than in Wavelab or Cooledit

Don't sleep on the S series samplers though. I use my S5000 strictly to make keyboard patches by sampling waveforms and layering it across the keys.

One of the things that sucks about production is after you get a few hits under your belt by establishing a "sound" everybody and their mother wants to copy you. With the S5000 I make my own patches instead of buying a module, pluggin it in and attempting to create my own sound. It's impossible that way.

Just go through the crates (Records for yall that don't know whats up yet) and find records that have long notes isolated. Then you can filter it, reverse it, do whatever wit it and then set up your program and freak your new sound. Hold on to it and then later on after your off to the next thing you can either sell it or start handing it out....

Anyway, let me shut up before I give all my tips away.

dont get me wrong, i like the s5000, just not the editing on it. its tight. i do just what you are talking about when i find samples of that nature(yes i know what the "crates" are, i got about 25 of them).
