AM I STUPID, OR JUST NEW TO THIS?! LOL...

ive tried connecting my Yamaha MM6 to my 2500 via midi cables.... and i want to play my synth sounds and record direct into my SEQ. on the MPC.... it seems as though the MPC is picking up the signal when im playing the keys, however the sound isnt coming out.....................

is it even possible to do what im wanting??
if so what am i doing wrong... ive checked the midi settings on both... looks as though ive done what both manuals say...etc.

if it cant be done like this... then how please. ive tried to sync them seperatly into cuebase, but either im completly stupid (which is likely, as ive only had the setup, and only been beatmaking for about 6months) or getting things to sync is always a greify task....

so could someone either tell me im stupid, or help, or both.... thanks.

How do you have the Yamaha connected to the MPC? Where is the audio out of the Yamaha going to?

It sounds like you don't have any instrument cables hooked up to you mm6. Make sure that you have a sound source for the mpc and the mm6. Midi data does not transmit any audio or sounds just signals that tell another device or software what sound to play.

anyway, i have an TC Electronic KONNEKT 8 interface, my audio cables from mm6 and mpc run into that...
when you say instrument cables, are they the same as audio cables, or something completley different?? do i need to just put them leads from the mm6 into the mpc instead of the interface? still new to this...lol.

YES! THATS WHAT I MEANT WHEN I SAID INSTRUMENT CABLES, SORRY ABOUT THAT.

I HAVE MY MPC, FANTOM AND MY MO 6 ALL ROUTED INTO MY MIXER AND THE OUTPUTS ON MY MIXER GOING TO THE INS ON MY MBOX AND MY OUTS ON MY MBOX TO MY MONITORS. I'M NOT TO FAMILIAR WITH THE KONNETT 8 BUT YOU CAN TRY AND TAKE ONE OF YOUR OUTPUT CABLES COMING FROM THE MPC AND PUT IT INTO ONE OF THE INPUTS ON THE KONNET AND DO THE SAME WITH THE MM6 AND MAKE SURE YOU OUTPUTS ON THE KONNETT ARE HOOKED UP TO YOUR MONITORS AND THAT MAY GET YOU STARTED BUT I'M NOT SURE WHAT YOUR SOUND WOULD BE LIKE.

I WOULD SUGGEST YOU JUST GET AN INEXSPENSIVE MIXER JUST TO START WITH SO THAT YOU CAN GET THE FEEL FOR IT...YOU WON'T BE SORRY. BUT UNTIL THEN TRY THAT AND SEE IF ITS WORKS FOR YOU AND LET ME KNOW THE OUT COME.
