WHO IS YOUR SLAVE?

i have tried both.. i cant figure out which one i like better...


do you have protools ( or other daw) set as your master or is the mpc your master...


sometimes i get the feeling that when protools is the master my beats are a little off... maybe im crazy... i dont know


then sometimes i think that using the mpc as a master is a lame...


i dont know


what do you guys think...


sometimes i just want to put in a click for 1bar before everything and align it manually to make shure everything is as it should be...

Use your recording software as master. I struggled with mpc as master so many times, it wasn't alligned properly, some tracks went off beat. Now it's just easy. I use Cubase sx with MTC.

I also have tried both as masters and I like my DAW (Pro Tools) as my master. When I had my mpc as the master I had trouble setting my pre-roll so that it would sync with the beat correctly. But in the end, pro tools as my master is much better for me.

i just went back and listened to some stuff i bounced last night... i didnt set up any pre roll.... i was using protools 7 and the midi beat clock... not the mtc... my 2500 was set up to recieve midi clock not the midi time code...


it seemed to work... but i dunno...

i wish i could get cubase se to control my 2500...i don't know what the hell is wrong...what is the sync issue that was never fixed?

It's for the MTC to sync properly. Slave needs at least 3 or 4 bars to completely sync to the master.
Forget the midi clock if you want all your tracks lined up nicely as they were in the mpc.

so you think that the midi beat clock does not work as well as the mtc...

i was just talking to someone who said that midi beat clock and midi clock in the mpc worked great...

i personally dont know if i can tell... i think that the thing that throws me off is the levels are so different once you bounce into a daw...

i guess ill try the mtc...

Midi Clock has it's purposes, such as when you want to sync up LFOs, Delays and stuff like that. However for tracking the best option is Midi Time Code, more accurate and precise. Maybe you can find someone that will tell you the exact opposite.
That's just my point of view - I checked a lot of options (including SMPTE) and that's my choice.
