correct installation

just installed a hitachi 80GB hard drive. just wanted to know if i correctly installed it. when i look at the available memory on the hard disk when i save, it says 76300 MB available. that doesn't sound right does it? i formatted and i don't think i forgot any steps. any ideas?

76300 divided by 1024= 74.51


so theres 5.49 GB somewhere. I wouldnt stress it. Mine didnt give me the full amount either.

i installed the exact same hitachi hard drive and i also got the same 76300 capacity, don't worry bout it, all hard drives don't show full capacity because of the FAT32 system.

It is installed correctly. Drivers and other crap that's necessary for the hard drive to work is on it and takes up some of the space. When you get a new computer PC or Mac if it has a HD of a specific size you never have that amount of space available its always gonna be a few GBs less. You installed it correctly though, bang on!
