Need help with recording Samples. . . . .thanks

Watsup to everyone on MPC-FORUMS. I just have a question which is probably easy to answer. i Just got my MPC 2000XL im still learning, i have got the basics down like loading samples. i know how to assign it to pads, whenever i hold the rec. button and tap the pads it works fine and records the sample. THE problem is whenever i press play it will play a 8 second sample in 1 second it will play really fast im not sure if its the BPM but i cant seem to get it right.

Yo, I got a 2000... They're not that different, and honestly I don't know why your sample would be playing so fast as you say... Might want to check your manual on that one, yo... Once you assign it to a pad, it should play as you sampled it.. Unless you have the slider assigned to "tune" on that specifc pad, and it's all the way up......

it plays fast when i have actually recorded the sample and pressed play, when i press the pads and i am not in record mode its fine.
