just bought a 2000xl the other day and want to make sure i've got my turntable connected properly to sample... i've got a 4 channel mixer - my speakers in one, mpc in one and turntable in one... my question though is... do i have to run another set of cords from the mixer to the "record in" inputs on the mpc??? so it can hear the turntable??? i'm a bit confused cause with a cd player or whatever it says to plug it straight into the "record in" inputs cause it's already at line level...

In general you need some sort of pre-amp to boost the level of a turntable to line level. Most dj-mixers have this build in. You say you've got your speakers hooked up to one of your mixers inputs. This makes no sense to me. if you could tell me what brand/type of mixer you have, i can give you more specific advice on how to set it up.
sorry i meant the speakers are plugged into the amp channel on the mixer... it's a four channel dj mixer (shitty "soundlab" brand) and i have the mpc and turntable plugged into two of the four channels... i can hear both the mpc and turntable through my speakers... but can the mpc hear the turntable is what i mean... or do i have to hook it up different???

Yeah, you got it hooked up allright. But there's no signal going to the mpc's rec input. You'll need to run another cable from the mixer's out, to the rec input of the mpc. If your mixer only has one output, you'll have to keep swapping it with the amp output everytime you want to sample something.

Perfect! Just hook it up like that. Rec out on the mixer to rec input on the mpc. If you end up hearing the turntable twice while sampling, turn down the mpc's volume or close it's fader on the mixer.

Yo would the Behringer DX626 3 Channel DJ Mixer http://www.behringer.com/02_products/prodindex_dj.cfm?id=DX626&lang=eng, be able to do the same functions that puppetmasta wanted?
I want to be able to hook my MPC, monitor, and turntable up. I want the setup to enable me to hear both the turntable from the monitor or from the MPC; is this possible with the DX626? Is any 3 channel dj mixer with at least one out [for the MPC "record in"] good enogh to achieve such a function? Please can someone offer any help...thanx
