ok, please dont blast me, I know there are tons of posts about comparisons to the OS1 and OS2. I have the OS1 and love the layout of it. I do however wish that the effects were stronger and there were more of them. I love messing with filters...............is the filtering of a sample in the OS2 that much more gangsta? I dont really care about all the capabilities cause im happy with what I have but from a effects/filter tweaking standpoint, this might be something I might want. So sorry once again for possibly getting burned but I am ready with my fire suit on.

the filters in os2 are a little different, the way the resonance works sounds different. it may be placebo but i like to think it sounds better

BUT i must say
the reason one would switch from os1 to os2 is NOT for the effects or filters. moreover, the reason one would buy an mpc to begin with is not for the effects or filters. they're just not up to snuff compared to nice vst or dx fx or hardware effects units.

Nym,

Yo thanks for the reply. Ive always been the kinda dude that works the beat as far as possible b4 i take it to hardware. so many times i show cats beats b4 they come off the mpc. I used to use an asr10 but that tank was just so hard to take around, however, I miss the onboard processing. I do love the OS1 lowpass filter with the Phaser together. Basically it makes a world of difference when im working on a track all in one machine. I guess im always trying to ask for a little bit more but trying not to spend more. I know the 4000 got some wah effects and some other cool features as far as effects go. I guess the ultimate MPC upgrade would be to throw some extra effects. ill probably just get the os2 this weekend just to peep game.

Thanks again!!!

you can simulate a wah with the bp filter ad the lfos...

about the new filter, i don't think that's placebo they sounds better to my hears(it's perhaps from the slope or something like that to compensate the loss of filter2...)

Well,

True is that mpc filters suxx...big time....
I use them just for beggining ideas or for sketches, but seriously - sound is bad and nofun.
If U want nice filters buy akai one or sherman, or warpfactory.
I got akai mfc42, analog, it is bit noisy on outs, but works well, plus got midi implementation.

Honestly, all MPC1000 FX sux..... I use compressor a lot on master, just to smooth a sound a bit, but during exports - all FX off.
JJ is/are going in good direction cutting off FX's..
I agree that is nice to have a verb and delay, tremolo or chorus when you are away from yours studio/home gears, but guys ;) if you own even cheapest lexicon than you know that akai fx is rubbbbbishhhh.

just my 3 pennies

^ agreed

BUT that doesn't stop me from doing some filtersweeps that sound pretty decent

listen to the intro to this song, just a simple lowpass being brought up/out of the mix:

but in general my filter use is on the lowdown and my fx use is nonexistent

The filter in the 1000 is good enuff, I use it all the time.

sometimes, tho I hear a slight high pitched sound when I play heavly filtered bass chops next to eachother from note to note. only notiable if the filtered bass is solo'd or just playing drums with the filtered bass. Possible JJ could smooth this out?

Nym, nice track.

one day i was bored and did a little mpc beat on youtube. for the wah effect on this, i ran it through my yamaha mixing board, then tuned down the pads and added a low pass filter to give it pretty chill effect.
