should i get rid of my 2000xl?

to produce i used my mpc 2000xl with a turntable,motif rack and midi keyboard.Lately ive been if i should trade my mpc and rack in for a fantom x6.it seem s like it would be way more convinient to sample,play keys,and create beats overall in one unit deos anyone think this will be a bad idea?

It all comes to this in my opinion - if you find other equipment more convinient and you have the money for it (can trade something else to get it), make a switch. There's no sense in having machine that doesn't suite your needs. However, think twice, cause you may regret it and later will try to get a hold of the exact same machine in the future - that's taken from my example : )

Mine too. You WILL regret giving up your MPC. Trust me. I gave up mine 3 years ago and finally got my hands on a cheap one two days ago. Three years of regret and countless hours wasted trying to convince myself that FL Studio was the future was not worth it.

Get it. I got mine with 32 mb without the card reader for $500 used. Thats a great deal if you got the fetti cheese and aren't hurting bill-wise.

And I too vote with keeping the MPC, unless you've clocked some hours on the gear you are thinking of switching to. I know in the past I've made the mistake of snap decisions like that on gear I thought would allow me to be more productive, only to end up selling it for less than I paid AND having a hard time getting back the original stuff.

Just think on it and be sure.

seriously...how much would you get if you sold the unit? i would think definitely not worth the sale

I personally wouldn't do it. You gonna get far less than what its worth. If you are good at what you do, you can use dat same ol' MPC you was gonna sell to make beats, and make da money to get a fantom..Then you can decide when you had experience with both..in your hands...im thinkin if you dont sell the mpc, your gonna still wanna fantom.

..Think about it...the mpc isnt for every1 also..so, like i said think about it hard!!

I'd think really hard about the sale too. I picked up my 2kxl a week ago for a steal ($300 with max ram and the FX board). I've been using computers for years and years to make my beats, all kinds of software and hardware. trust me, nothing else out there sounds like an MPC. It's a real instrument, with its own tone. The pitch shifting and time stretching sounds you get can only be found on an MPC - the fantom may have all the features (and more) of your current setup, but be sure to try before you buy. How do the pads feel? How do the keys feel? And most importantly, how does it sound? Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

i say if it ain't broke don't fix it...i have the same setup...2000xl,motif rack, midi keyboard=equals dope music...phantom is cool but its very confusing and there is alot sh*T in there you wont even use....but hey thats just me

Get rid of it if your confident on using your other gear as is. If you've only used the MPC as your main sequencer learn another one first. Same with sampling if that your style. Make up your mind after experimenting a bit.

dont do it trust me i have same setup just a 2k and you can make alot of dope music why would you sample on a fantom anyway just my opinion but trust me i gave up the mpc before and i swear two days later i was on craigslist lookin for a xl
