What else do I need?

Alright I've got the MPC....now what else should I get? I figure some headphones, samples and software. I don't have much money to shell out so what do you guys suggest? What to invest in? Thanks guys.

Check out the free kits at akaipro.com. They have some great vintage kits to play with.

turntable and as many old vinyls as u can get...

yeah the kits of the week are a good start.. decent headphones are also a good idea...

u might also wish to buy a winning lotto ticket... ... then buy a studio?

yea, if you are restraint by your budget, then get headphones. I recomend Sony MDR-V600, the price/quality ratio is very good.

For the samples, you can do as Chisel said. Free kits are avaliable in alot of places on the web. And of course, don't forget that you can find some crazy ish samples right here: www.mpc-samples.com

Later...when you will have more bucks to spend, you can invest in some equipment which you will be using to get your own samples. Here, the sources are unlimited: turntable, redio, tapes, 8-tracks, mike, tv..........

Now whatever you own... always try to make the illest ish possible with it. Some people get it the wrong way and buy lots of equipment but real don't make any great tracks. So be creative with what you have, and you will be surprsed how much you can do.

A turntable, a mixer and some viynl

A good Cd player, headphones, vinyl, turntable, mixer, and a synth

what software do you guys use to compliment your MPC?

What do you guys think of the starter Dj packages for the turntable and mixer? I found a Gemini starter kit for pretty cheap. Will this do?[url]

if the tables are just for sampling they'll do the job ,BUT if you plan to scratch then i'd HIGHLY recommend getting some Direct Drive tables.The ones in the link are Belt Drive tables and aren't really suitable for scratching records.Just something to think about.

Hmmm.. I would never recomed to buy that ish, even if it would be for sampling only. Those belt driven toys are weather dependent. When its hot and humid, ou will really notice the difference. Also after a while, they seem to have problem with their pitch. I mean, it's hard to adjust the pitch so that is stays stable.
You would be better with some used table but direct drive and with quartz pitch control. So, better save some money and buy something solid, instead of a toy that will break after a year.
