S Series Sample converting (Mac)

I have an mpc4000 and just got an s900 and s1000 together for a good price.
The 4000 is just lacks character in the sound. The plan was to sample into the 900 to dirty things up. Did this, sounds great, I mean a lot better (obviously clips the high ends but warms it all up).
I wanted to then save the samples onto a floppy, import onto my mac and drop onto the 4000 where I can go from there.
I should have done a bit more research before buying them but you never think of the problems until they arise. I found out that they dont save WAVS ("obviously!" all the 900/950/1000 etc. users are thinking).
I tried re-sampling back into the 4000 but this ruins everything that the 900 has given to the sound. Its not even close.
Does anyone know a way to do this? It looks like you can using adisk on the pc, but I cant find any way of doing it on the mac. I dont want to get a pc just so I can do this. Also just to check with any adisk users am I right in thinking you can do what I have written above.

sampling the output of the S900 to your MPC4000 should not change the sound. if it does I would be disappointed in the AD converters.

If you could save out of the S900 it would sound different since the resulting file would not go through the DA stage of the S900. The file would also be 12bit, not sure if you would have to convert it to 16bit to playback.

I have done this with a S950 and S900 that I have since let go for a S612. I regret that but they were so big and I got them cheap. The way I did it was to load the floppies on my K2000 and then save them to zip as AIFF or WAV

they did sound different though, no DA stage but they still sounded good!
No I use a S612 for grit, very fast.

EXS24 support floppies? it certainly supports AKAI CDs

Just to save a couple bucks if you have Intel Mac you run Bootcamp, VMWare Fusion or Parallels and run Windows on your Mac. You can only boot up in Windows with Bootcamp but in Fusion or Parallels you can run Windows and OS simultaneously. If you have OS 10.5 AKA "Leopard" that comes with Bootcamp as part of the OS. If you dont have an Intel Mac... Oh boy, good luck!

I think that the Akai s900 and 1000 support SDS (sample Dump Standard), which would allow you to transfer the sound via midi to your mac. Bias Peak supports it, as does DSP Quattro, there is also a free application from Elektron that does SDS called C6:
