Is there an effective way to learn the MPC?

Yo ya'll,

I've been messing with the MP for six weeks now, and know the basic functions, but am stuck in a rut and feel like I'm spinning my wheels, sitting on the thing and making nothing different. I don't know what I'm missing.

If 80% of the work is done in 20% of the time, and 80% of the results come from 20% of the work, what should I be working on to maximize how fast I can get nice with this thing?

post up some beats and read the opinions (dont take offense to the harsh ones). If people say your drum game is wak then start there and work your way up. Just my 2 pennies.

people have a tendency to emulate their surroundings...
listen to whatever genre you really like...
just listen to music that pulls you toward it...
you'll naturally start picking up on what it is about the music
that you like so much.

if you can't make it to any hip hop events,
then watch youtube videos and watch how people operate.
and laugh at the ones who don't know how.

and have fun...
because nobody's gonna put forth much effort in something
that doesn't wiggle their toes.

Wow. Um, imo 3 ways people learn, listening (includes being taught/schooled), doing and reading.

You can choose or do all of them, that's on you, my best advice is to do all three.

That's one of your biggest problems, take time to learn it.

Slowdown, analyze and digest all it's capabilities and functions.

Use that knowledge to see what you can come up with in your head.

Spinning your wheels imo is the part where a person doesn't know the
capabilities of their machine and don't know what to do next. If you
get comfortable with the capabilities then you can smartly figure out how
to get done what you need....
