Turntables

My boy here at work in our purchasing dept is always pushing Numarks turntables or Stantons - but why not invest in a Technic 1200? One day you may say "Hey, I want to learn to match beats!" so you go buy a nice mixer and the other turntable - plus, a turntable with a pitch control (like a Technic) helps you match your beats up to tempo - which helps with timing issues

Buy a Technic 1200 or better yet 2 of them - don't be cheap

Numark and Stanton (in my opinion) suck (I've played on both several times) - they pay the big jocks to take pictures with them but when they play the big clubs in Miami, L.A. and New York - the standard is Technics -

Save up your dough man, Techniques got this NEW SCHIT out... Its CRAZY RIDICULOUS man... Its a cd player that comes in the form of a record player and you scratch the disk with what is a rotationg platter.. .. hott fvckend DAMMMM this schit is SICK...... recently had to return my cousins technics 1200 cause I was basically borrowing it for about a year so I hit up ebay and copped a Stanton Str5-80 for $41.00 so check there for bargains.

yea sorry, str8-80 yea i caught the auction literally 2 minutes before it ended stole it from some other cat sleeping, thats what happens when you are too cheap to pay to put a reserve price.

I wouldn't get anything other than a 1200 or the Numark TTX, even if only for sampling. The other, cheaper direct drive models have such weak motors that the start time is awful. If you are holding the record and let it go to sample, you have to start the record way ahead of what you want to sample. Otherwise you will get the startup dragging in your sample.
Also, don't laugh but you'd be amazed at how much the feel of the record under your fingers plays a part in how you sample. The 1200's motor feels like a corvette revving up ready to be let go.

Good needles don't hurt either.
