A FRIEND OF MINES HAS A 2000XL AND GAVE ME A ZIP DISK FULL OF SAMPLES. I HAVE A ZIP DRIVE ON MY PC SO I COPY ALL THE SAMPLES, SO FROM THERE I WAS GOING TO DRAG THEM VIA USB TO MY MPC 1000 BUT WHEN I DID THAT AN ERROR CAME ON MY 1000. THE ZIP DISK HE GAVE ME WAS IN "AU AUDIO SND" FORMAT. WHEN I TRY TO PLAY THE SAMPLES ON MY COMPUTER IT WONT PLAY. CAN SOME ONE PLEASE HELP ME?

What ? Didn't your friend of your tell you to read the MANUAL ? or at lest the last page where all the specs are?
MPC1000 does not read .SND files.
The only way to do it is to use software to covert from .SND to .WAV
Oh yea...and use some batch converters, cuz otherwise you willfind it looooong :)

Why worry about hacked software when people write free software for that very purpose?

(I would have thought someone with over 350 posts to be able to answer this correctly)

I was thinking about software that does more then just .snd to .wav.

(I would have thought someone with almost 1000 posts will not judge people's knowledge by the number of their posts.)

I did not have too, I relied mostly on your really bad advice to suggest dBpowerAMP to convert MPC SND to WAV. Probably expected from someone that does not own anything that saves in MPC SND format and then attempts to give advice on it.

Note:
MPC SND is not the same SND format that most commercial convertors consider it.

From http://www.globalmusicresource.com/basics/basics3.html
"On Sun MicroSystem NeXT hardware this digital audio format is known as SND. SND can also contain FM and Wave table synthesis data. The SND format also appeared on early Apple computers. The Type 2 SND is the format for actual digitized data."

There are only a handful for convertors that correctly recognize MPC SND format: Awave, Translator (pending?), CDxtract and WavSnd to name most of them. Only one of them is freeware.

But you did.... You could have said what you thought was bad about dBpowerAMP instead of making this little comment about the number of my posts. You might have read something in a magazine about dBpowerAMP having inferior quality to CDxtract or WavSnd, but I bet you would not be able to recognize with your own ears, the same sample that was converted using WavSnd and dBpowerAMP.

Anyways man, I'm not questioning your knowledge. Maybe you know more then I do about those type of things, or maybe you know less and just trying to compensate with those little comments, I don't know. All I know is that I don't criticize people for no reason,… and you do.
