I have had my 3k for about a month now and i love it. It is OS 3.03 and i am thinking about getting the mansell-labs Vailixi 3.50, so here are some questiones:

1. What exactly can be edited and processed in real time? everything? how about tempo changes, timing correct etc...

2. Ever since i had gotten my 3k, i have been frustrated by the fact that you can't tell a single sample to loop when it reached the end point like you can on any soft sampler (and also on s series samplers if i recall correctly). I would like to be able to do this and then change the end point in real time for a sped up/slowed down stutter effect. Will Vailixi allow this?

Thanks for your help...

It´s pretty straight forward and well written on the homepage.

The sample start and end points can be adjusted in "real time" but to have a musically tight result you are probably better off reassaigning the sample a couple of times and adjusting it´s end points accordingly to make your stutter effect. This can be done for each sample in "real time"

Yes the MPC 3000 does not loop. and it´s not a big loss. If you want a machine that loops then get a 2000xl. The strength and beauty of the 3000 lies somewhere completely else.

Oh yah, get the upgrade. It´s definitly worth every penny and then some.

ok, can anything else be edited in real time accept the "sample edit" menu?

wackdadyy, i don't understand how you suggest i make the stutter effect, can you clear this up for me? how will it go faster and faster?

I´m not sure what kind of stutter effect your after. With my idea, you would have to copy and assaign let´s say 8 pads with the same sample. Then you would have to shorten each sample to your musical liking and play them by hand in a "stutter" crescendo fashion.

If you want you could even change the pitch on each consecutive sample.

That´s the first thing I tought of if you wanted to do some kind of effect by shortening the sample length. Like you said the 3000 doesn´t loop, so changing the length won´t get you the drama - you got to do that yourself.

also try assinging Decay to the sample via the slider and you can change it in real time with that

???

Exactly and only what is stated clearly on the www.mansell-labs.com website.

If stated then yes.

If not stated then no.

Sample looping 101.

Re-trigger the sample where and often as needed to effect loop style playback.

Set voice to MONO mode. So it will cut/restart if re-triggered.

The SAMPLE EDIT screen functions work in real time with Vailixi.

So, YES you could change a sample's pitch, end point, start point without stopping the sequencer.

No problem.

Rohan, will setting the voice to mono re-trigger it at it's end point? that doesn't seem to be the case, i'm afraid i don't understand.

plz elaborate

You play it in mono and at the end of the bar or bars hit the pad again that is a easy to loop since there is no loop function.

7 1 4 Beats, what does that give me?

Since there is no Loop function on the 3000 I sample my loop and then assign it to a pad then set the pad to mono and I go to the Edit screen and adjust the start & end points and play the pad instead of hittin play/stop so that way as I am truncatin I am playing the sample and it loops it's just another work around that you can do to lop on the 3000.

OK,

I'll rephrase my question, what i want to achieve is the following:

If you use an s series sampler, you can tell it to re-trigger the sound the moment it reached the end point. so if you play the sound that way and shorten the it's length gradually, it re-triggers faster and faster as the sample becomes shorter.

is there any way of doing something like that on the 3k?

ok, so what s series sampler should i get?

s3000? i don't have the cash to throw on a 950.

I´d read the manuals and then decide...
The S3000 has the same sound ans such as teh mpc 3000!!!
I would prefer the S6000 because it´s a beast and has lot´s of outputs. But that´s just me.

I don't get this man.... lol

i can loop on my 3000.. not by holding one pad.. but what the heck you need that function for ? i can loop fine by just programming it.
