Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

When I trigger a old sampler in this case the s950 it triggers it as if on the "note off" setting internally
I find this a bit off putting for drums as I like to have it on either mono or poly

so I have 2 questions

(1) is there a way to get the MP to trigger s950 and I tap a pad and the duration of the sample plays even when the device gets the note off signal.

(2) if not how do I select (all) in the step page so I can just make all the note durations longer without having to make each one longer one by one?

If you are asking about mpc, then in the step mode you have to press the DOWN or UP cursor while holding SHIFT. This way you can mark multiple notes.Perhaps it's the same with s950.

And about triggering samples - isn't there a setting in the s950 that decides how each sample is played ? Just guessing. But with my other sampler, when I trigger sounds from it with my 2kxl, I have to set the Release parameter to high value and it will play the whole thing.

Try the "One Shot" parameter in Program Mode page 16 (kinda obvious, eh?). Manual p. 41/42. I'm not sure that cures the problem though.

I'm pretty sure there isn't going to be a way to do this unless it's a setting you can change on the 950 - Because the mpc is sending a Note On message when you press it and a Note Off message when you let up. The poly, mono and note off options are just settings in the internal sampler and don't bear on midi data at all. I use a little zoom sampler as a sound module sometimes and I haven't found any way to change it.

Does the 950 recognize aftertouch messages? there could be something there - I'm not too familiar with using aftertouch and what it's all about (I guess this will be my "I'm sure someone out there knows more about this than I do, hint hint" post for the day)

If it's really that big of a problem, you could sample the sounds out of yr 950 and set them up in a program on the mpc which with a little forethought could give you access to the best features of both machines...

yeah another way would be to change the note length on the MPC can you select all then increase them all?

just increase the sustain or decay on the s950, im not sure if you can do it globaly or per sound., so the sound will play out natually, wihout the need to hold the pads down.
