SUMMARY OF FEATURE SUGGESTIONS....FORGIVE US JJ FOR WE KNOW NOT WHAT WE DO...
Ive changed this around to group it into the different modes and screens, as sooty suggested. The numbers refer to the original list, cause people are already refering to the numbers..man this is getting confusing!

MAIN SCREEN
17.Track selection by Shift+Pad e.g. shift + pad 16 the active track becomes track 16. (an alternative method could be numeric + pad)
Adjustable loop start/end with sequencer running
22. Higher Tempo.
30. Simult sequence:toggle between main seqeunce and simult seq (e.g.open window on the simult seq parameter and the simult seq becomes the main seq and the original main sequence becomes the new simult sequence). The ability to mute tracks in the simulted sequence.
32.Program change shortcut for internal samples. e.g.numeric and up, the program on the active track goes up one. or numeric and pad:. program changes to pgm with same number e.g.pad 16>pgm changes to pgm 16.
33.Next sequence options from main screen.(similar to 32 but where you can change sequences rather than programs).
58.Grid in main screen on/off option.
59.Track delay on MIDI tracks as well as audio tracks. With the possibility of negative values. This would give the option of shifting the timing of entire MIDI track as the sequence plays.
60.Independant loop regions for each track.Where the master loop region=longest loop.

SLIDER MODE
34.Qlink to all tracks, or a group of assigned tracks.Qlink to a range of pads.
36.qreal assignable to LFO's rate, pitch, filter1, filter2, and level 41.Expanded qlink tempo range.e.g.0% - 400%. An option for tempo qlink control to be within a program rather than global.e.g. track1>program1>qlink1>tempo control....track2>program2>qlink1>filter...
45.Qlink and midi in control of fx settings.
71.Expanded Qlink control ADSR , note on duration, fx sends etc.

LOAD/SAVE
28.Live audition of samples while sequencer runs.
57.Option to view files by file type in load/save screens
73. in load menu:pads play the current program on active track.Soft key auditions sample from disc.

MIXER MODE
39.Output mixer.i.e.volume control for outputs 1,2,3...6

RECORD MODE
3.Render active tracks to audio. Render as seperate tracks or mix down to stereo two track.

TRIM MODE
6.Trim edit: Sample pasting/ Merging .
9.Reverse loop.Cross fade looping.Loop position snap to zero crossing.
13Trim mode:Sample edit: shift and right go to start of next chop (rather than clicking twice)
48.Use of FX in trim mode for destructive editing, incorporating "preview"," new file" and "all" options like the ring mod
49.Trim Mode:play entire sample without having to hold the pad(including loop regions). finer qlink control when editing samples.Sample preview of chopped samples from pads.Global sample edit, bulk editing of samples.
50.Trim Mode:Hit a key as a sample cycles round to create sample slices.
53.Sliced samples/patch phrase to MIDI seq data (similar to reason rex files).and to pad pattern(if the pad parameter is included in future pad pattern developments).
76. 16 or 12 levels tune in trim mode. For quick listen to samples playing slowly when editing.
PROGRAM MODE
2.Bulk sample loading into new program.Bulk sample loading into existing program.Slice sample into existing program e.g. insert from Pad B 06.
8.Legato/Retrig .Reason style portamento control.
non destructive reverse.
10. Assign a pad within a program to track mute.
14.Multiple midi notes per pad or a simult pad sends MIDI from all simulted pads.
15.Sample selecting from inside a program to start from the last assigned sample
25.Purge in GPE.
29.Hold option. e.g. A"H"DSR. Hold amount to be measured in beats and ticks.(e.g. input a value of 4.48 and the sample plays for 4 and a half beats and then stops. The maximum value would be a continual hold.Continual hold samples can be toggled on and off or retriggered as defined by the user)
31.Mod groups. One lfo would modulate any samples assigned to that mod group.
51.NDC capability within INST programs.(to make an instrument out of a few chops and key groups, without creating a new sample first).
63.MPC 5000 type pad cycle.
65.Velocity to LFO rate. Also the ability to change the rate of the LFO as the pad plays.
68.."delete program with samples"
69.simult program

MIDI
46.Higher ppq resolution e.g 192,384,768,etc
52.MIDI clock output divider (MIDI out A: midi clock 200bpm MIDI out B clock:100bpm)
54.MIDI out "panic" reset: for stopping hanging notes on external equipment etc.
61.Full Multitimbral operation
GENERAL/MISC
5.Sample renaming: shift + left= cursor goes to the start of name . shift+right= cursor goes to the end of name. Also the ability to cycle through the characters.i.e. when you reach the end of the character list, another movement to the right would take you to the start of the list.
16.Click track options: Adjustable count in bars. Count in loop until performance begins ( by hitting pads or recording MIDI). Metronome rate 1/2 option. Adjustable accent timings e.g.every accent on every 2nd,4th bar etc.
19.Overdub: Erase all notes at the current sequence location by pressing shift and erase, while sequence runs.
Track F2 key and erase: erase all note on that track whilst the sequencer runs.
23.Foot switch. stop>play start.
37.Free running lfo's, that coincide with the sequencer rather than retriggering when the pad retriggers
44. Master ouput level adjustable by smaller increments.(It currently changes in steps of 6db).
46.Higher ppq resolution e.g 192,384,768,etc
66."Pad Mode" reintroduced. MIDI in padmode. MIDI note in to track mute
72.mpc2000xl style data wheel control.

FX
7.FX : Side chain for compresser. Wet/Dry mix for Reverb and Delay
24. Recordable FX send changes.
42.EQ settings memory EQ presets

SEQ EDIT
26.Track split function. (seq edit?) Each recorded pad is re-assigned to a seperate track.(e.g. for editing drums on individual tracks).
64.Seq edit: change the speed of the midi data on a track or tracks.e.g.half or double the tempo of the data, but master tempo remains the same.

STEPEDIT

67.Step edit: the ability to highlight multiple pieces of data and edit them.e.g highlight a range of notes, edit the velocity levels of all the highlighted notes.
74. step editing from main window (like 2000xl).
75. step edit: option to view only the data that applies to the current step

GRID EDIT
12.Improved visual representation of note timings within grid edit.
20.Grid and step edit with sequencer running.
21. Grid loop edit. Pad selection from pads (shift+pad or tap tempo + pad) before rhythm input via pads. (This could also work in the opposite way .i.e the pad plays as usual. press shift and you can enter the last played pad anywhere into the 16 steps of the grid)
27.Improved visual representation of beats and divisions within MIDI grid edit.
35.Step sound on facility when editing qreal data, and qreal quantize
43.Midi CC reassign in grid, step edit .e.g. Change midi CC 29 data to midi CC 30 data.
47.Qreal data insert :shift and slider to create curves rather than just straight lines.

SONG MODE
62.Song mode: Control of seq loop regions.e.g.1. seq1 loop bars 3-4 repeat 2 times.followed b seq1 bars 1-2 repeat 2times.
70.song mode revamp: overall tempo adjust, tap tempo response, "live record of sequence changes" creates a new sequence or a song.

TRACK MUTE
11.Track mute groups.(simult muting, unmuting of a group of tracks) and Mute toggle( muting one track unmutes another).

55.Track mute screen colours to be changed or the capability to choose between the two possible view modes.(e.g. black=mute or black=unmute).
56.Track select from trackmute screen. e.g. shift+pad changes the active track. This would enable qlink control of different tracks without leaving the track mute screen.
AUDIO TRACKS
38.Continous sample tracks. Audio tracks to operate more like akaiOS for the 2500 .
TIMING CORRECT/NOTE REPEAT

4.User defined note repeat values 1/4, 1/8..........1/64.
40.Quantize strength.e.g. 100%=exact quantize 0%=no quantize
50%=some quantize, but not all the way to the nearest snap value.

somewhere in Japan, JJ just saw this list & had a heart attack.

haha thats kind of why i did it ..not to cause a JJ heart attack but to prevent one! yeah theres a ton of stuff in that feature request sticky, in my opinion some stuff is really good, and other stuff not so good.. my thinking was we could collectively decide on an mpc forums top 5, and send him that instead.

also have i just got the record for the longest post in forum history?

here's the main requests i've had in no particular order...

1. in load menu, pressing a pad should play the sound assigned to the pad in the current program rather than auditioning the sample from disk. the "play" soft key can be used to audition samples from disk so you can go back and forth from what you're about to load to what you have already loaded.

2. velocity sensitive scrolling in trim mode (like 2000xl). spinning the data wheel fast should move end points in larger jumps and spinning the data wheel slow should move end points in smaller jumps, regardless of zoom.

3. step editing from main window (like 2000xl).

4. a step edit view that shows only the events within the step that's selected in the "Now" field (like 2000xl). in other words, each step has it's own page instead of having a long cluttered list of all events in the track that scrolls down as you change the step in the "Now" field.

5. direct record akai 2500 style.

6. trim menu should use mono play mode so that you don't have to hold down the pad to play the sample (like 2000xl), or at least make it switchable.

i'm afraid there's no good way of organizing these in a forum setting...i fear this will just turn into another big brilliant mess

i say just let jj do his thing. that thing tends to correspond with what is wanted.
the less dramatic the FRs the better

Yeah i see what you mean...theres a lot of stuff us greedy bastards want! My intention was to find out whether there was a general consensus on a very small selection of things. So we could all show some restraint when March comes. It took me ages to write that list so can only imagine whats waiting JJ's email next month.

Mike Feedback i'll include your things in the list anyway(a couple are in there but phrased a little differently).

uh.. yeah that's some list.

Regarding No. 54 -- doesn't pressing STOP three times send out the ALL NOTES OFF message already? I thought it worked for me...

Could well do, i haven't checked it though, there was a little discussion about it in the sticky thread .

this one is very important to me
another midi-recording fundamental
seems like a fairly straightforward, sensible addition.

i doubt we'll find agreement across the board on these. personally, looking thru these i'd say about 75% of them are things i'd like to see. there's a lot of good suggestions there. what would be helpful to us & jj, however, would be to group these even more somehow. seems the best way would be to group them by screen or by function:

SEQ EDIT requests
GRID EDIT requests
TRIM SCREEN requests
LOAD SCREEN requests
etc...

My Top 5:

17.Track selection by Shift+Pad e.g. shift + pad 16 the active track becomes track 16. (an alternative method could be numeric + pad)

^^YES!!!! I still can't understand why this has not been implemented yet.

49.Trim Mode:play sample without having to hold the pad (including loop region). finer qlink control when editing samples.Sample preview of chopped samples from pads.Global sample edit, bulk editing of samples.

^^(mikolo, does this mean that you can play multiple samples in a program by hitting each pad as opposed to cycling w/ the scroll wheel?)
**and I'd also like to add to 49 if I could: Pitched changed notes play in trim mode.**

20.Grid and step edit with sequencer running. Adjustable loop start/end with sequencer running.

2.Bulk sample loading into new program.Bulk sample loading into existing program.Slice sample into existing program e.g. insert from Pad B 06.

59.Track delay on MIDI tracks as well as audio tracks. With the possibility of negative values. This would give the option of shifting the timing of entire MIDI track as the sequence plays.

I think this is a great idea. It will limit the clutter, and narrow the main feature requests.

Very true the fact that so many different suggestions have been made in the first place shows the subtle differences in everyones approach. If we had a vote it might be a end up as 75 way tie!

yep it might be a useful reference...not sure if we should show it to JJ though! If we do, i hope he'll know its not me asking for all of this haha!

vanysh: you can detune samples in the sample list before editing in trim mode..is that what you mean? or do you mean more like a 16l evels tune operation for trim mode...i for one would find that very useful..my other sampler has no graphical display its editing by numbers and ears only..playing a sample very slowly whilst chopping is really useful for hearing stuff.

This is one that is simple but important to me as well. I try not to use quanitize all the time but some times I want to tighten things up just a little bit and I either have to try again and re-record or shift notes individaully. When I used my Yamaha motif ES as my sequencer (before I got my 1k) it had this function and I used it quite a bit, it saved me alot of time. This is pretty much one of the only things that I missed when I switched from my ES.
