^ How is that genius? If you follow this forum, there are plenty of people that would work on it for FREE... but since there is no way to get the source code, they simply cannot do it. Akai just isn't going to let it go. Maybe if the MPC line ever dies, but the way they keep rehashing the same stuff and people keep buying, it wont happen soon.

For sure! I'd pay double if it was really good and so would any serious 4000 user. And you know this maann! I figure if JJ can get the codes for the other machines, why not the 4000?

If you work at Microsoft, you don't have access to the source of every MS program ever written. He said himself it will not be done.

Sadly, this thread is a just over a year old and nothing ever happened. AKAI refused to allow further development of the MPC4000 OS.

I'd pay 30 ($£€) for a new OS, (or 50)
provided it addresses the few problems
that can be found in 1.71, i.e. not bugs
but editing features found in the OS's for
newer models - they are all described
admirably elsewhere in this very thread.

quick question if i may...what has akai's permission for further development got to do with this (...I guess legal issues)....did JJ get official permisison from akai...i doubt it..and the mpc4000 is now a discontinued product, unlike the mpc1000 and mpc2500, so i dont see what the hassle would be.......just my 2 cents...and yeah..I pay for it.

the point is that we don't have the code. So at this point Numakai have to agree to give it to us before an independent OS can begin

I'm afraid MPC4k have being treated like shtt since day1 and this just carries on

oh, and for all it matters sure I'd pay too, and a heck of a lot more that you guys are talking about. I'd drop $200 on a JJ like OS just to fix the bugs and get a better UI - even without new features

I think it would pay me back in saved time very quickly

if i read this, it appears to me that they have had access to the code in UK, just like that JJ entity did with the mp1k and 2.5k
