2000xl and roland xp-30

ive hooked up my midi ins/outs from the mpc and xp-30, set my midi device to 1A, but i dont know how to set up the roland. i want to set it up so the mpc controls the roland's sounds. i get sound from both of them running into my mixer but i cant get the mpc to record the keyboard. does anyone know how to set this up?

Accept all MIDI channels on the MPC and find out which channel your XP is on. Look into the Roland Manual for this.

ok i got it workin!
i have another problem though. when i lay down a track with the keyboard i switch tracks on the mpc to throw in diff. sounds with the keyboard but when i change the sound the part i already laid changes. how can i control diff sounds at once? its not easy throwing in other stuff when u cant hear the first one right.

It can be done, make sure your keyboard is set to MULTI-TIMBRAL

Also know as "Performance" mode on Roland products.
