Well, it seems to me that if you have a groove sample and you can lay it automatically down in a bar, that is quite handy?

Is it so hard to tune the sequencer bpm to the samples native bpm? This is assuming you would not want to tune/stretch/chop the the sample its self.

Well, I don't know. To me, it just seems easy to have the bars length adjust itself to to the length of the sample. But maybe LvngDead himself can make it clearer.

Ok i think i see what it is. Yea that sound kind of cool but also lazy maybe?
This feature also makes things like the metronome redundant?

Yup, I don't use metronome or the quantize with the way I lay the tracks down. You can call it lazy, but I'd rather spend 10 minutes trying to flip a chopped sample instead of 10 minutes trynna get the BPM right.

With my method, you can still slow or speed the tempo and the midi notes will change with it. Works out fine in the end. I'll try to post up a video if i can get a camera of what I mean.

Yea ok i get it, just a different way of working. But to be honest i can see how this feature was overlooked. But i can see you sample straight from vinyl into the mpc and don't use a computer atall, and thats nice!

I am just thinking: you *can* set filters in series 8) Take a look at the effect section :D

So assign a LP to the sample and send it to an FX as insert choosing a HP filter.

Oh good shizzle!

Sorry about starting a seperate topic on this issue. I work in Tech Support and we generally like to deal with 1 ilssue per "case".. makes it easier when searching for things later..

Can you look into this request?

Hi,
I was wondering if the 5000 has a feature that I had added to the 4000's OS, that
was never added to the 1000 or 2500 for some reason.

The MPC series since at least the 2000XL has had a feature to change Sequence
remotely with Program Changes. The problem with that feature is that the
MPC handles these just like it would if you used the "Next Sequence" pads and switched
it that way. It will switch at the end of the sequence.

Now let's say that you are using a 4 or 8 bar sequence. Well the MPC won't swiich
until the 4 or 8 bars have completed. Making your MPC running an entirely different
sequence then the remote sequencer is....

I requested for the 4000 that they put an option for "Sudden", so that when a remote
request to change sequences happens, it changes the MPC's sequence immediately
rather then waiting for the end of the sequence.

According to the pg 192 of the Reference Guide this:
Sequence Change by Program Change is part of the 5000, but it doesn't look like
they've added any options to it.

For those of us who use Multiple Sequencers this is a crucial and critial feature. (multiple MPC's and aP3 here)..

Beole, are you still roaming around these forums? If so, can you put a RFE (Request for Enhancement) in? And while your at it, add the same request to the 1000 & 2500.

Also you might want to file a documenation bug against the 5000 Reference Manual.
Literally the only place where it discuss' "Sequence Change by Program Change " is on pg 192 where it is talking about resetting the "defaults". But nowhere else in the Reference Guide does it even does it even discuss this feature. So somebody without my knowledge, may not know what it does or how to use it...

Cheers,
Dave

Hi Dave.

Actually this is the only thread on this forum where I feel safe... :D

I've read your post this morning and wondered myself about page 192 (not of the manual, but of the pdf file) and asked questions about it at Akai. Waiting for the answer.

Regards, Boele
