I had an idea. I want to play some nice chord progressions on my keyboard but I can't play very well. I was wondering if anyone has tried to use simult pads to setup chords to be triggered when hitting a single pad via midi?

In the past I would usually sample the chords and play them out on the mpc but I want to be able to easily change the sounds.

Is something like this possible?

damn, that's not a bad idea actually. It would take some time to set up but you could easily tune them up/down afterward and really have some flexibility.

That's a nice Idea. You can use this chord maker here http://tabnabber.com/documents/chordDia ... Chords.asp and then use simult pad. But I guess you have to sample the bigger chords with many notes in them, to not run out of Voices. But for me, using a keyboard you are more flexible. I just record some notes I like into reason, and then build the chords in theres. Sometimes s chord sounds more natural, if not all notes drop in at the same moment and with the same velocity. Sure, you can do this on the mpc, but it need more work, I guess

this idea already came up in the forum a year ago or so. i still think it's a worth a try, but i was too lazy to really create a preset-pgm. but maybe i should... that would turn the mpc in a modern omnichord.

problem is all notes will hit at the exact same time, which sounds very unnatural

yeah, omnichord-style... it's only good for pads.

and filtersweeps, and a bunch of other things
i typically just prefer to sequence them in separately but this is still a dope technique that no doubt someone will use to kick my ass

Yeah, I tried doing this with some fender rhodes sampled singled notes and using simult to play chords,, for some things it works but generally speaking the dynamics are missing in the sound. Best, if ya playing aint too hot slow down the tempo of your song, if you can, and play your chords nice and slow on the keyboard, then increase the tempo.

Sometimes I'll just lay out a multi sampled instrument program, and hit multiple pads at once for some good chord action. When you know the MPC in terms of pads, scales and half steps you can basically bang it like a piano...

Glad i'm not the only one who sees it like that. go into step edit later on and slur some midi notes 1-2-3 ticks ahead/later....and or add swing to that chord track...

Whatever you do, don't always let them hit at the same time...

yeah this won't work.. when you simult multiple pads only a single midi note is sent out :(

yeah, wouldn't that simult delay help to solve this problem?
