program change no.

read her about program change number, but im not quite getting it's function. is i so that one can change a program during play or something?
can anyboby give me tips on how you use this function and what its for

You can use Program Change to change these things:

1) Program
2) Multi
3) Sequence

So if you want to remotely change a "Parts" "Program",then you will want to
have the Program Change, change the Part (as described below).

If you want it to change a "Multi" then you would give the Mulit a Program Change Number.

And if wanted to remotely change sequences (you are using more then 1 sequencer)
then you would use the "Change Sequences with Program Change" option

Which option are you wanting? Guessing from your post it's a "Program".

So Click the "Multi" button and then press F3 for Midi.
go the "program change" field select a number.

Then go to "Misc" page and you should already be on "F1" setup

Scroll down to Program Change section and set your
Program Change recieve channel to a specific Midi Channel or set to "All"

make sure that the Change Sequence with Program change is turned "off"


Now send you Program Change on the Channel that you are wanting. I"m guessing that you'll want to set the Part to "Int-A" or "Int-B" depending on what Midi Port you
are sending your program change to.

With 32 parts on the 4000, its not as necessary as it was on the older MPCs, but still can be usefull for certain applications. If you ever want to load General Midi files, GM kits have program numbers that corespond to the GM map.

Program changes will also be sent to external MIDI gear if you want it to select a patch on a synth for example.

im starting each seq in step edit with a program change corrsponding to a multi.

but no multi change...

I have two multis, the one is a copy of the other with same content.
The reason I want each seq to play each multi is I want different qlink setups for them.

so the same programs in the two multis.

Is that what im doing wrong?
