Finding a pad in a seq.

I don't think there's a way to do this on the XL but I reall hope one of you can prove me wrong.

Say for instance, you make a track with loads of drum hits, you come back to the track after some time, and you can't remember exactly which hits you've used as you've pitched them down or whatever, then you run out of pads. You know you haven't used all the sounds you've loaded up. Is there a way (not including soloing all 64 tracks for every seq.) to find out which pads you've used and which you haven't???

well whenever i wanna free up pads i serch through the seqs using the find next event function...note down the dapds that were used and delete the samples from the rest

how do you run that? i imagine its in the step window?

hold goto and then use the event shift buttons.....it will find every event in there.....this is essential knowledge for using step edit effectively....

you'll waste a lot of time looking at a blank step edit screens otehrwise

this is true of most hardware seqs

thats what i was doing for mad long yesterday. my only excuse is ive had my mpc for less than a week.

Thanks man, but this is how I do it, I was hoping for an easier way, it's starting to pss me off that i have to do this for 50 tracks or so per seq It takes ages and my hand gets tired too.

Nice! This will work if I export the midi file but is there a way of seeing all the midi data in one place exclusively on the MPC??

the only other way, and its a bloody pain, would involve saving the midi file and then opening it up in something like cubase and looking across the piano roll to see which pads are being used...

but still you'd have a huge midi file to look at if your using 50 + tracks....

YES greg, the sun is finally shining on londontown, and sunny london is a much betta place to be.....where you at bruv?

down in portsmouth.....i come up london quite a bit to visit mates in brixton and angel and to go clubbin like to the end or fabric.....

always remember it being great up there in the summer! whole place really begins to vibe when the sun is out!

yeah londons great in the sunshine, im norf.... holloway area.
never been to ports, but if you come up here for raves and reach fabric then you braver than me! cant stand the q's in that place!!
