Mystery Glitch

If anyone has any idea at all what might be causing this PLEASE post coz it's driving me fukkin nuts:

A few weeks back i got the new pad fix upgrade from mpc stuff and installed them EXACTLY how they supposed to be, and ended up with some really weird glitches, heres just a few,

*Out of no where the data wheel will only control the screen reso
*Random pads will make the bank switch from A to C and sometimes B
*Random cursor buttons will also switch the bank to C
*MAIN and sometimes MODE will switch the bank to C also

I've emailed the dude at mpc stuff, who suggested it was an os problem, but this is not the case as i have installed several jj os and both the old and newer versions of the akai os. I am currently using the jj os2, and have the same problems.
I then suggested to him that it was a PCB board fault, so he sent me a new one, which i have installed but nothing has changed.

Another thing i thought might be the problem is something metal is touching somewhere, and for a short while there it was working fine when the faceplate was either completely off or on without the screws in! The glitches returned though when i lean my hand on most parts of the faceplate.

I've even removed the base that holds the PCB board and covered the area underneath with plastic, thinkin that maybe the slightest bit of pressure was causing the PCB board to touch metal somewhere.

Another thought i had is that perhaps there is a difference between the older blue style mpc1000's and the new black ones, as mine is a couple years old now, so if someone could let me know if they've successfully installed the new pad setup in an older 1000 that would at least eliminate that one from my possibilities list.

did you use any type of glue or adhesive to fix your pads?

if so it sounds like the glue is conductive and shorting stuff out?

only an idea though, never even read the fix ya pads post , just an idea from past experience as an electronics engineer.

its defnatly a short of some kind then

sweet, cheers, ima have a good suss around and find out whats touching, nym reckons it might be the r operations board
also seeins you know a bit about electronics, do you know how dangerous it is to be checkin this sort of stuff with the mpc turned on and the faceplate taken off? Not that i'm unscrewing stuff internally while it's on, but was just concerned about any do's and don'ts when the unit is turned on with the faceplate off.

If you feel uncomfortable doing it DON`T. It IS dangereous!
But if you feel like you know what your doing it´s fine... just don´t put yer fingers in there!

i haven`t been inside the mpc at all but to be honest i wouldn`t mess around with it turned on, its not gonna be mega dangerous unles you **** about with the powersuly section, but there is a risk of shorting the board if you touch and circuitry while it is turned on.

if u not sure best leave it alone or get a pro do it.

ask other members who have had experience with the insides of theese things,
mine still under waranty so i`ve not had its panties off yet!

definitely sounds like a short.

i installed the new pads in my older MPC and had no such problems.

i'd say - have a look around inside with the unit powered down. if there's
nothing obvious then take it to a pro.

you don't wanna fry yourself...

i spoke to bruce forat and he said its something connecting the main board to the pads, its right by pad 4. a blue ribbon going into a black plastic piece. told me make sure everything near there is tightly in place.
