Alright, this is my first MPC and it came with JJ. I've been trying to follow the Akai manual which has helped to an extent.

I'm trying to record a sequence on my main screen it says "waiting for MIDI 'play'" at the bottom. When I hold down [REC] and push [PLAYSTART] it briefly says MMC Start. I mess around with the pads and such but it doesn't appear to do anything beyond playing the sounds. I'm quickly tempted to go back to the akai OS so I can at least follow a usable manual. Any help?

If you are willing to give up that easy, maybe you should go back to the Akai OS, seriously.

Mode + MIDI

Hit the synch option (F2)

And turn off both midi in and midi out

MMC feature is not needed for regular ole mpc by itself playback/recording.

From what I've read from the jjos pro's here, stay with jj and never look back, lol.

I don't have a 1k but that's about all I can tell....

i use this topic for my question, strange thing came up, my shift+data wheel isnt working anymore, when trying to adjust the lcd level... numbers just changes.
i was working with a beat, then accidently changed the lcd to a little bit darker... and now, nothing happens when i try to change it back.
so anyone knows whats up with that?
i have the jj os 3.05.

Whow, lets make this thread sticky

########################## IMPORTANT!! #############################

1. [STOP] + DATA WHEEL ==> LCD contrast

2.Turn DATA WHEEL with [SHIFT] or [TAP TEMPO]
The amount of change increases 10 times.

#####################################################################

Right on top of the online manual for JJ OS 1 (ok thats 4.x, doesnt hurt to look around JJ´s site though)

Apparently it does hurt....

OTTO & sixsevenbeatz,
I'm a nOOb also but the one thing I did was READ everything. Does it take time? YES. But it is well worth the read. Not just inside the MPC1000(JJOS) section, read all over the site. Others will gladly help, but you have to pull your weight also....

Good luck, playa.
