digidesign mbox or hardware multitrack?

I need to get my recording straight, and I was just thinking about going with something basic, cheap, and small like the fostex mr-8 recorder, but the protool based recording does not look bad at all.

What would yall recommend for a noob that really does not have any experience with recording? In fact this would be my first recording purchase so I am not too familiar.

How would mbox hook up between my mackie 1202 vlz, and my computer for recording?

Any help suggestion would be much appreciated.

I just copped the M-box for my first recording rig and I'm loving it. As far as hooking it up, Mixer out to M-box In. Just make sure you have a compatible computer.

Cause you can still expand the protools thing if you want to advance with a new interface and still use the same software.

Why not download Pro-tools free, and record some stuff using your standard soundcard. Sure, it will sound like S%it, but you'll get a feel for what it's like to use the program.

I also have the MBOX make sure you set your preferences line output
into mixer and it comes with shhh loads of software for not yet so wealthy producers like myself.

Right plus you can go in any studio finish your work! What ever you're recording in P-T Le can go to P-T Tdm/Mix24.
