Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I want to know if there is a way I can transfer info from one sequencer to another. I sequenced some songs on a Roland xp-60, I saved them to a floppy, but now I need to transfer the sequencer data to my 2000XL because I have to part with the xp-60. I have another Roland rack module with the same sounds as the keyboard, so I can trigger the sounds. I just want to know how I can take the midi info from the floppy and send it to the MPC. I don't want to lose the songs, so if I don't have the keyboard anymore I won't be able to play them.

I don't understand too much about "bulk dump," and I am not sure if thats what I need to do. Please help quick before I go crazy.

No, you don't need it here.

About your question - you could just copy those sequences to mpc by using zip drive, floppy or card reader (don't know what you use).
If this is not good for you, you could record them through midi cables to mpc in sync with roland, but the above way is much quicker and should do the job with no problem.

I have an internal floppy on the MPC and the external Zip drive for it. I don't have the machines in front of me, but if I understand correctly, I should be able to load the xp-60 midi data into the MPC through the floppy drive?

Thanks, I appreciate you taking the time to help.

That's right.

Thanks, I'll try that when I get home!

I tried what you said, but my MPC 2KXL will not read the sequencer data from the xp-60. I am able to load up the song on the xp-60 and record the outgoing midi mesages to the MPC. Doing it that way is very time cosuming cause I have to do it track by track, for the entire song. Is there a better way?

also how can I record info such as system settings into a sequence on the MPC so that I won't have to keep readjusting things like levels, effects, & patches on my roland rack module?

open the midi file in cubase or something similar and clean it up, name tracks etc. So its a bit more mpc friendly. check what type of midi it is, type 1 or 0.
