changing swing on tracks already recorded?

can you do this by overdubbing with the new swing value set and leaving everything alone?

or can you just change it and thats that?

whats the deal?

Just go into 'Open window' when you've highlighted Timing and you can apply swing to anything. Make sure timing is set to 1/8 or 1/16 and you should be able to adjust swing. Just make sure you hit Do It (F6 i think).

It's obviously important that each sound is recorded to an individual track as swing is applied per track - so each sound can hav it's own swing value

You can apply swing to specific notes/samples within tracks if you need to.

To answer your original question though, I don't think that will work but give it a try and see.

for whatever reason. if you have the swing set to 50%, you record your track, and then adjust the swing on the track after that, for whatever reason nothing will happen.

the method to the madness.

before you record your track, set the swing something that youll notice. say like 65 or something. record your track, hit playback and youll hear the results. now you can go back and put it to 50% or 75% and hear the difference in the track.

Are you on the 2000xl? I think there might be somethin' wrong with your MPC cuz I've been able to adjust the swing after I record on all of the MPC's I've owned.

you have to hit the move existing soft button, or whatever they call it on the 2k.

hmm . . .

Ive noticed that if i set my slider to pitch a sound (yeah i have the after selected) it still wont affect the sequence unless i overdub with it once. like I'll overdub with the slider set so it plays the note unchanged, and then hit stop. and then i can mess around with the slider and turn after on and off no problem.

im have a 2000 not an xl by the way.

it's wierd - looking at the manual it seems like i might be a bug, i dunno...

but the point is maybe the swing is like that? im about to experiment the best i can now that im at home...

i agree with coocoo ive always been able to change the swing of any track, note, time at any time of the beat making process...
