Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi,

I own an mpc2000 and make programs for it on the mpc editor.
I know that when i export the program for mpc2000 it converts the wavs to snd files and if i export for mpc2000xl it just copies the wav files to the selected location along with the PGM file.

So, before i export for mpc2000 to use my sounds, i export in another folder the same program but for mpc2000xl.
I do that just for a safety backup and for future use/modification.

My question is this:
If in the future I purchase another mpc like 1000, 500, 2500, 4000 or even a 5000, will it read the PGM files made for mpc2k and mostly the ones made for the mpc2kxl?

Thats why i backup my programs on PGM+WAV. So i have my favorit kits that i use and wont have to make them again from scratch.

Thank you

i doubt you would have any problems as far as i know those machines will read a 2000/xl pgm file.

As far as I know the new machines won't read pgm's made for the 2k's. You sure about that?

I thought the newer MP's won't read APS files but will read PGM's just fine. But what do I know?

Well ok, later on today I will upload a zip file with a 2000XL PGM with a few WAVS in it

But i think i should have to post it in the 1k 500 2.5k and 4k forums and see what cats tell me there.

Peace

All the mpc manuals (free to download btw) of those machines tell you what files they are "supposed" to be able to handle from the older mpc machines.....
