i would say a mackie vlz without knowing the exact price

ebay!buy a used for a bargain..and get tight with it,don`t think about upgrading before....first things first...

Used mixers can be a bit dodgy - The moving parts (faders and pots) only have so much life in them and will eventually wear out no matter how carefully or lightly used - If yr looking at a used mackie, I would say go with a new behringer - The behringer eurodesk mixers are almost exact knock offs of the entry level mackie desks, down to the components used and wiring architecture... I've heard both and I can't tell the difference, except a used mackie costs as much or more than a new behringer. Keep in mind that this is mos def one of those "you get what you pay for" scenarios.

i cant recommend enought AGAINST behringer get a mackie new or use im sure you wont be dissapointed.

my opinion...when mixing and making music as a beginner on a small budget it doesn`t matter how good your equipment is.learning to use it is more important.that will prevent you from putting money in something that does not work for you and **** you up caused by the price you payed for it.....
first thing for me is to learn using it,even a avalon compressor will **** you up if you haven`t learned to use a compressor anyway...


but...it`s nice to buy from people who sell their pro stuff cause they`ve never learned to use it and have no idea what nice piece of gear they have...

Well guys thanks for the replies I actually found out the mpc had 32 mb ram and an eb-16 effects card the gu who sold me it told me that it was a basic 2kxl i guess i got lucky. I was wondering if anyone knows if theres somehing in the MPC that would let me know I installed it properly? Because when I try to put in an effect its not working OH and BTW Lamdog I know Manual Pg 137 I Know.

If you don't plan on using the EB16 (and it is in working condition), I have a suggestion; take it out and sell it.
I did this for the MPC 2000 I currently own and have just bought a 2000XL with an EB16. I got it for good price on ebay and I will make a bit of cash by selling the EB16 and the MPC separately. I always keep on eye on MPC's for sale for this reason.
I will usually sell the EB16 for around £100 and more often than not make back the same if not more on the MPC (especially if the seller may not have know the full value of what they were selling or needed to sell quick).
