MPC3000-to-MPC3000LE upgrade?

I'm thinking of upgrading my original beige MPC3000
for a limited edition version... I've had the SP1200
and re-issue and I know the re-issue is a little more
stable.

Anybody done this before?

I have had 3 white 3000's and know I am rockin the 3000LE and I love it especially with OS 3.50 and a card reader but I mean the white ones never gave me any problems.

The LEs will probably have the same problems as the white ones, except that they may happen later I figure...

That's just because the LEs are newer. The LCDs may be brighter, buttons snappier etc...

Does everything feel identical when going "classic" to LE?

Yeah the only thing is noticed is the buttons on the LE feel cheaper like more thin feeling the the originals but everything else is the same.

which buttons?

Play Stop Record the og white ones the buttons feel like they are made out of a more solid plastic where as the new ones feel like there are cheaper more thin feeling.

Yeah. But I guess this depends even more on how much and hard the preeevious owner(s) has used it. But of course, the latest LE's are produced many years after the first classics.

I think the LE looks better, especially next to the rest of my gear, and if I'm lucky enough to find a MPC60 (I or II) at an affordable price, or a S950, I won't just have grey Akai gear all over the place. But only I can see the looks of my machines, other people only hear the music made on the machine. But I love the looks on my LE.

if i had a regular one i'd send it to forat for a makeover but the le is already unique. imho. i'm guessing there's no difference other than that. i read somewhere that the vga card came standard with the le but mine don't have it. wish i could one brand new in the box!!!!

i have raised pads on my 3k + the 32 mb ram.... thats all i need...

how is that ? the pads.. is it better ?

It was not standard to have VGA output it was optional.

dont need it. i had the mv 8800 for a while with the monitor and it was cool but didn't affect my workflow or sound

Don't knock it till you've tried it with the 3K.

There are 2 things ill about the VGA.

First, It allows you to see everything on a much bigger screen.

Second, It allows you to turn off your backlight. This is dope because not only does it prolong your backlight's life, but it eliminates the noise from the inverter.

I've got a 3K w/internal CF reader+VGA, and even if I put my ear to it it's dead silent. So yes, having the VGA does affect the sound.

The MV ain't no 3K (obviously) , and having the VGA absolutely has sped up my work flow. After a few hours with the VGA I completely stopped lookin @ the 3K when I use it.

Good info. I should have my 3.50 chips tomorrow so im like a kid on christmas eve. I'll "probably" never invest in the vga card and screen so i'll be content as is.
