The new-build MPC 1000?!!

Ive owned my MPC now for about a year and a half now and have had several of the usual problems with it....those awful dying pads, broken mode button, dodgy q-links, ridiculously bent CF reader and even rust on the back panel from moisture in the air (WTF is that about?!!).

My friend recently got one of the newly-built 1000s for his birthday and i was astonished when i checked it out close up.

First of all its got the upgraded pads and sensors as standard (which i had just bought from mpc stuff for $180!!) , a 128Mb CF with some very nice SFX and multi-sample kits, a CF reader that anyone can use (not just the mpc owner who has developed the knack of getting a CF in that shitty bent reader) new sliders that aren't all loose and flimsy, a back panel that is painted black so that it wont rust!!, even the clear buttons and data wheel look and feel alot better, they even went to the trouble of using better quality paint for the Q-link logo and pad functions (its actually yellow and not that sketchy greenish colour), i tell you its ridicolous how different it feels.

Yet another kick in the teeth from Akai!!

without that first run of dodgy boxes those friends of ours wouldn't be able to enjoy these fine updates...

I feel your pain as I just did the $180 pad upgrade. at least that's out of the way.

wish i`d found all this out before i bought mine last year , i`ve got all the dodgy stuff to come great?

Jsolace...notice ur in manchester, quick question? Where did ur mate get his new MPC? Soundcontrol? Dawsons?....or did he have to get it of the internet? Trying to establish whether new MPC's with the proper pads have started shipping to the UK.

He bought it from Guitars and keyboards (www.gak.co.uk), and yes they are shipping them to the UK.

rumor has it that the newer ones also come with the HDM-10 [for adding a hard drive] pre-installed as well... but i haven't opened mine up to confirm that yet.

Was just about to make a new thread asking if anyone knows if the new 1000s have arrived in the UK yet, sounds like they have...
Does anyone know of a place in London I can get hold of one?

i have had the new build mpc for about 3 months now, and yes the difference is huge as i have used one of the older models in my mates studio.

i bought my mpc from htfr.com, they don't actually stock the mpc1000, instead they order them direct from akai uk everytime a customer orders one, this ensured i got the latest model anyway.

ok its not one huge in your face difference, but it is a large number of small differences that make it better than older models, i honestly can't see this breaking on me anytime soon.

also, as was mentioned earlier, the akai branded cf card that comes with the new model does actually have some great sounds and instument kits on there, for the first few days i got my mpc i just used those sounds and made some great tracks, and sometimes i still use them. so the new cf card is definatley not to be confused with the older sound banks from akai.

so to sum-up

i seee under 500 and tha 2500 wow under a g thats crazy

you sure your not looking at the price in £ as the 2500 has never been over a g, £'s that is.

tha reason i said that is the 2500 here in(michigan)is almost $1500 so im suprised to see that low,low low price thats all thanks 4 tha info.....PEACE

1500USD is roughly £750 you're getting the better deal.
