IS THIS REALLY NECCESSARY??

OK back to the mpc 500


is a cf card and a RAM card really neccessary for the mpc 500???COULD I STLIL MAKE TRACKS WITHOUT THEM??....my local guitar center doesnt have one,so where else would be a good place to purchase one?? Which ones would u guys recommend far as MB or GB?

Also, would RECYLCE be the best program to start off with for the mpc 500?? being that i'm brand new to the MPC

MPC500 can handle up to a 2 gig CF card. Since this is the only memory option for the 500, you need one. They come from 32MB to 2G. You don't "need" the expanded memory, unless you are going to sample a lot and resample and what have you. Also, do a search on here, you can find 256MB ram cards that work in the Akai unit, and save yourself about a hundred bucks.

check the 1000 forum index there is a sticky there for cf and ram that will work for the newer mpcs

I'm thinking of returning the 500 for the 1000...but if i cant understand the 500/ y would the 100 be any easier???

i'm also thinking, if i decide to keep the 500 that i'ma buy the DVD tutorial which is finally out.....

1000 is easier because a lot of the functions are laid out in a less convoluted manner, plus the bigger real estate = less menu diving and an easier time editing and trimming samples. You should start on the 1000 then once you are familar with that and if you so decided you can move on to the 500 because you will have a better idea on how to get to where you need etc.

whats the purpose in buying a mpc then chopping on a computer. that just seems redundant
