My First Post

I read through the manual, and also tried searching this website. I didnt want to ask a question that has been asked a million times, and sound like a total newb, which I am to the mpc but not producing. I have been making music for the past 3 years now.

The mpc500 is great, and I really like but is there a way to play 2 sequences at the same time? I recorded my drums in one sequence and my melody in the other, and I want to play them together to see how it sound. So, is there a way to playback 2 sequences at the same time?

Rather than have them on different sequences, can I suggest you have them on different tracks - that way you can play them together. Copy your sequence to another track and you're laughing!

Thanks. When I try copying both to a new sequence one just over writes the other. I will try putting them on two different tracks. I did not see that post by s.o., was it under this topic? Can you link it?

sequences in your 500 are laid out like this

sequence at the top and up to 99 tracks under it,
think of the sequence of kind of an umbrella for your tracks.
so when you click your sequence button, you have 99 tracks under it. and they make up the character of your sequence.

SEQUENCE (it usually defults to track 1, if im not mistaken)
then track 2
track 3
track 4
and so on

so youll want to copy your sequence to a new track, so you can play both of them at the same time.

a track is just a segment of the sequence, most people use assign individual instruments to tracks.

here is a breakdown of how you would use a track
Sequence 1
track 1 (melody)
Track 2 (kicks)
track 3 (hihats)
track 4 (snares)

you can also name your tracks so you dont confuse them with eachother, it comes in handy!
