Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Even though I have said it many time, I will say it again.

EB16 gives you 4 stereo effects processors, two multi-effects and two reverbs. When could you ever buy 4 effects processors for about $350? Even cheapo effect processors?

Aside from having a wide array of effects, the multi-effects processors are true MULTI, where you can have distortion, chorus, reverb, delay in one effect. I do not know of a single outboard processor under $300 that gives you access to more than two effects at a time. The only outboard multi effects processor that I could ever afford that allowed multiple effects like this was the Lexicon MPCX-1 and that set me back some $800. And it only gives you a single channel at that, not 4.

There other benefits, such as having the effects programming embedded with the program itself. No longer needing to align certain outboard effects programs with internal programs. Each time you switch to a program you get a new set of parameters that have been customized to that set of samples by yourself.

All digital signal path as opposed to MPC digital -> analog output -> outboard input -> digital effects -> analog outputs. That's two D/A conversions and one A/D conversion. Doable but borderline on my comfort level for number of conversions. You can work around this with digital I/O, but then again you limit yourself to a single set of stereo effects and some more complex signal routing, not to mention requires having the MPC optional output expansion board.

Lastly there are fewer cables and other hardware to worry about.

thanx mpc3000, thats what i was trying to get at! lol. but yo for real, you just made me love my eb16 even more. like i said, i use it with every beat i make, and a couple of friends of mine have mpcs, without the effects, and i feel for them. haha. its like the eb 16 is where its at for me, when it comes to getting that deep bass. the reverb is great if used in moderation
